LAST NIGHT IN THE HOUSE!

I'm not the kind of guy who is normally gushing with sentiment but tonight is my final night in this house that I grew up in. I thought I'd be fine with seeing it go but it's kind of weird. Suddenly I'm remember the day my parents and I moved into this house in 1972. What a LONG time ago. It makes me realize how preposterously lucky I have been. I actually wrote my first short story in this house!

Today I got the a/c replaced (ANOTHER 3 grand) but the workmen did a great job and they tweaked the furnace for free; and had to kick out 700 more bucks last week to have a bunch of GFCI things installed; I actually installed a smoke alarm myself without falling off the step stool (!); the house passed the termite test; everything except my ridiculous bed-raft is cleared out. Tomorrow morning I sell my mother's car, then head to Baltimore airport. I have very unexpected impressions of knowing that I'll never be back here again. The new owners move in on Thursday. It's been a long haul but now it's nearly done!

Haven't heard a single funny noise in a long time which, for some odd reason, disappoints me! At any rate, good night to you all! I'll be in touch again soon!

PS--I'm ITCHING to begin writing again in earnest! And I'm totally convinced that I'm going to make my own low-budget horror movie. I'll write during the week and work on the movie on weekends. I've been watching an avalanche of low budget "found footage" flicks and it seems to me that if you can find actresses who can scream convincingly and you can think of a few visual devices that haven't been done before...then you can make a movie that'll get distribution! Well, damn it, I'm gonna do it!

Yay on selling the house!! I'm sure the new homeowners will make many happy memories there, too! I know it's bittersweet, but it's got to be a big load off your shoulders. Safe travels back home!

Just think though, there is some lucky S.O.B that is gonna be able to say I live in Edward Lee's old house!!! That's the stuff of legends. Reminds me of Halloween - Don't go in there it's the old Myers house.

Some lucky person can say 'Yes sir, that's the old Lee house, and I live there!'

p.s.--still a 'skins fan? I know they've struggled a bit lately, but RG3 is a pretty engaging player to watch. My team, the Steelers, just took a huge blow with Ben's bizarre shoulder/rib injury...looks like he's out for the rest of the season, which is great effing timing since we play the Ravens twice in the next 3 weeks...grrr!
