Not getting a whole lot done today due to all the yelling in the house. Formula One, and then the UEFA Cup and oh my God we've just lost on penalties...

Wow... I must say, the ongoing project updates alone, on Amanda Palmer's kickstarter, have been worth my meagre contribution.
I hit Open, and photos, art, notes, downloads and info come pouring out on a tidal wave of raw enthusiasm.
It makes me smile, and damn right I'm taking notes, in case I ever need to do one of these things.

I was told last week by my boss that as of December 29th I will be laid off. there are 7 supervisor and 2 manager positions being eliminated. There will be 4 new positions created. I am praying I get one of those jobs, if not I will be forced to retire which I cannot afford to do. this is being done to save 1.2 million dollars on an annual revenue of 103 million dollars.

It really sucks when you've been there for over 25 years. They didn't even say thank you never mind offering a severance package. Some of the others affected by the lay off have been here for 35 years. I am hoping for one of the new positions, if I don't get one I may still be able to get another job here at a greatly reduced salary.
I was planning on going to NECON this year however, with all the uncertainty about my job situation I am not going to be attending. Thanks for all the good wishes. Everyday you guys continue to show why this is the classiest horror site on the web.

Roger, I'm so very sorry, layoffs are bad which ever way you look at it, but after being there so long.... gah. I really hope things turn out for the best.

On the bright side, they gave you plenty of advance warning. It still sucks though.

Whose freaking bright idea was it to clean/prime/paint the deck these last couple of days in this unbelievable heat? This is going to take all damn week.
