A week ago I dyed my hair to hide the gray. I had received several comments lately that the grey was really starting to show. Even my wife noticed it. I didn't really care all that much how grey I was, but I wondered if people would treat me any different if I didn't have any grey. My wife suggested we both dye our hair at the same time, she going to a salon, her doing mine. I said what the hell and we did it.

She did a good job on my hair, the grey was gone and the color looked natural. And the weirdest thing happened. Not one person noticed. A whole week has gone by and nobody has said a word.

Well, the girls in the office weren't. They notice and comment on my appearance constantly and they were the first to tell me I was getting very grey. I went to a big dinner last week with a whole bunch of relatives and not one of them said anything...and while they are polite, they would still mention it. Even my son didn't notice when he came for a visit last weekend. I think the lesson here is that if you look normal, no one notices you. It's only when you look old and grey when people pay attention to how you look.

3) Got my first gray hair at 19, which didn't concern me while I was dying it a rather lurid color of magenta and purple. These days, however...

My wife has been giving me grief about grey hairs starting to make their appearence. I'm almost 40. I'm lucky because almost everyone else in my family has gone grey before they were 30.

I just got a phone call that my boss from my previous employer died. I haven't seen John in over 20 years, though we have talked on the phone, so please, no need for condolences.

What struck me was the overwhelming feeling of shock and sadness I had at the moment I heard the news. Every thing around me and all other thoughts just disappeared. The feeling lasted for about a minute, I guess I was able to process it after that.

Looking back on it I realized it's a combination of emotions that I have not experienced all that much in my life. When I normally get bad news, I have knowledge of or an inkling its coming, so I guess I'm prepared for it. Maybe, in a way, I'm lucky because I haven't felt like all too often in my life.

Tonight was my last night of class for British Lit. My final is in two weeks.

My final American Lit II class is Tuesday, and again, the final two weeks from today.

My current grades are: 99.65% in American Lit II, 96% in British Lit.

I graduate next semester. The new computer system the state switched to dropped my russian class and my math class (7 credits all told). Submitted the paperwork to get that taken care of so that I only have 3 classes to take.

I put some black grease in the earpiece of phone in the plant, and then I went upstairs and paged a co-worker to call me. He walked around with a black ear all day and nobody told him. Everybody's happy now.

Argh. We're approaching May, I'm 3500 words into my story attempt for the anth., and typically I'm nowhere near the end of the thing. It also reads as flat as a pancake right now. I need some **SCREAM!** and some **GRRR** and I need it fast.

Funding issues. I'm hoping that my tax refunds will actually be large enough to cover the credits and books I need to graduate. Lucky for me, one of the classes I need doesn't have a required text book.
