Finished THE ROAD by Cormac MaCarthy (very disappointing).

Finishing HARDLY KNEW HER by Laura Lippman (a good collection of crime stories.)

Reading King's newest. Seems like I've been reading it forever and I'm only 1/3 the way through it.

Oh no, I am enjoying it very much. My point was that I really believe that when he writes a novel now, he's imagining it as a mini series instead of a movie.

Haven't started it yet!

I was finishing up some library books that were going to be due, then I got the new S.K yesterday and I had to start it.

I will definitely let you know when I have read it.

I will admit, the typos are a bit of a turn-off for me.

About half-way thru Gene O'Neill's DOUBLEJACK - it's GREAT. I love this serial killer series. It's like an addiction, I gotz to have more Katy Green (Hornet) and Johnny (Kato) Cato.

I've been re-reading The Stand lately. I'm also wanting to dive into another Tim Lebbon book. I loved Fears Unnamed and liked Face. Any suggestions?

Yep, shadogrrrl, it's the uncut version. I've heard opinions both ways, but I love the uncut version (I think) in part because it was the first version I read. I'd probably feel differently if I'd read the other version first (full disclosure: I've never even read the other version).

I was sitting across from an entire rack of the new Stephen King book this weekend at a book signing - (mine, not King's). The new book was being offered at a one day special of 50% off - but I still didn't pick it up. I just couldn't. It is too damn big for my liking. I do most of my reading on the bus to work and I'd have to start carrying an extra briefcase to store the book in. My back would give out.

One more reason to get an e-reader, I suppose.

Still, I wonder if maybe King just doesn't need somebody like maybe an editor with balls???

Finished reading Alan Peter Ryan's (CD ARC - thank you Early Reader's Club) THE BACK OF BEYOND - NEW STORIES. "Mountain Man" was my fave.

I'm reading King's The Shining again for the first time in over ten years. I'm realizing now, that it's the kind of book that gets even better when you read it again after a long time. This would only be my second reading of it, but man, what a deep book on so many different levels. Way more than a creepy, haunted hotel in the dead of winter.

I'm a major Kubrick fan, but his film vision of The Shining was so far off from what King wrote, it makes me wonder just how pissed King was at it. I know he's said one of the main reasons he didn't like the movie was, because the second you see Nicholson, you know he's crazy. No build-up. I can see his point, Jack looks nuts-great actor, but he just looks crazy. There's so much more to be had from the book, if I had been King I would have been really pissed.

I used to love the movie before I read the book, now I think the movie would be good only if the book never existed.

Having said all of that, I will now make one of my fingers say REDRUM over and over until I can't take it anymore.
