Inspired through films?

Hi Lee,

I recently watched a lot of horror films and two in particular showed slight similarities to two of your books.

First "The Nesting" (USA, 1981), which features a house which was used as a brothel decades ago in which the complete staff was massacred. In the present a woman wants to spend time in this house and from then on strange things and murders occur. This reminded me a bit of the plot of Flesh Gothic.

The second was "City of the Dead" (UK, 1960) with Christopher Lee where also a woman comes to an English village which supposedly is inhabitated by satan worshippers. This woman stays in a boarding house where a mute girl named Lottie works! Ain't that an aspect very similar to Gast?

Are these coincidences or did you really got these ideas from these two films. The first may be a coincidence but the second I found quite significant.

My nephew tells me he just saw a low budget flick that seemed to be a ripoff of. MACCRAY MODEL etc. With all the stapling of internal plumbing to another person.......

Yep, I thought the same thing when I watched Human Centipede. The writer of the movie HAD to have read McCrath!!

That's totally cool. By the way, did Chris Sarandon from the original have a cameo? I met him a cou7ple horrorfinds ago--very cool guy and dynamite actor. He was also in The Sentinel, one of my all time favorites.

Yup, Chris Sarandon does have a pretty cool cameo! The movie itself is OK, nothing super great.

And I'm glad I won't run into Squeaky and JPokela at the movie theater!! Although I think Squeaky lives in WI, like me. Yikes!!

Squeaky sounds like bunches of fun to me! A female Ed Lee fan? My wife won't even look at the books! If I start laughing while reading something she tells me not to tell her about it.
I enjoy the movie theatre experience. And laughing at things other people find repulsive.........

I was just going to comment that I haven't encountered any other female Ed-dites (Look! I just totally made up the word Ed-dite! *scurries off to take meds*) and then I see that KK Jones is a Konnie AND lives in the same state as me

Which part of WI are you in, Konnie? (I promise to stay away from your movie theatre) I'm not too far from Green Bay. We should start campaigning for Ed to come visit his fans in the north. Jpoke is only a state away, too. Meeting in Felch? Anyone? *titter*

Oh, I think Squeaky would be fun, too!! And yes, I am a female from Waukesha, WI (about 15 miles west of Milwaukee), so I am not one of those midwestern hillbillys that Ed Lee is afraid of!! I would LOVE for Mr. Lee to come to the Midwest! I know another female fan in Manitowoc. But hell, I'll travel if I can talk the hubby into it! I would go to Vegas for KillerCon if we didn't go to NYC last month!! I'll probably have to wait until next year!

Went and seen Fright Night, along with Apollo 18 at the local drive-in (yes, we still have a drive-in), and it was very cool to hear Edward Lee's name in the film. Even my wife was clapping and laughing. Very cool. Makes me wonder if either the writers, or someone involved in the film are fans.

Squeaky, I understand about your family. You have little ones! Mine are adults now, so it makes travel a lot easier! So yes, not only am I a female, but I am old, too!!
