I get a lot of crap for pursuing my dream job. Well, one of my dream jobs, anyway. If Iraq and Iran weren't so...hostile, I'd be getting my Doctorate in Sumerian History. But given that it's not a viable option at the moment, I'm going to study my second favorite place in the world. South East Asia.

I grew up with my dad reading to me from his college textbooks about dinosaurs and from The Thousand and One Nights. And then there were the Harryhausen Sinbad movies. that pretty much sealed it for me. But I've also been a fan of the Shaw Brothers movies and Godzilla films. When I joined the navy, and set foot in Thailand, I just fell in love with the place. And the more I study the place, the more I'm awed by it. Recent discoveries in the region are going to change thinking. The indigenous peoples of Ban Chiang developed metallurgy at the same time as Sumerians and Chinese. There's also evidence that they were cultivating rice a thousand years before the Chinese. A lot more study needs to be done, but if it's correct, then Thailand has claims to the fourth "cradle of civilization" in the old world. The other three being in China, India, and Iraq.

A lot of the crap I'm getting is from my wife. She sees no value in what I'm doing. She wants me to go do the Business Admin route. Everyone I know that has a BA in that area, really doesn't make more than she does. Even if I just get my Master's, I can make twice that or better.

I just heard that the original members of Black Sabbath are back together cutting an album and planning to tour. And yes, it means Ozzy will be with them.

Kellie and I are going on a date tomorrow afternoon to see the Royals play the Red Sox.

I found us lower level seats for $4.50 each (on StubHub), and all I could think of was that it was still $9 more than Thad and I paid to see the Red Sox at Fenway, sitting right behind home plate. :lol
