The whole concept of owning real estate is so presumptuous of us humans on this earth. I've seen "my" yard and it is owned by weeds.

Real Estate...being territorial...it's all the same no matter what you call it. I don't believe it is presumptuous at all, we are all animals.

I decided I needed to shake up my fantasy baseball league. I'm mired in sixth place, and the guy in tenth had Adrian Gonzalez. So I offered him Dan Haren and Gaby Sanchez (of the Marlins), and he accepted. So now I have AGon, Ryan Howard, Evan Longoria, Jay Bruce, and Jacoby Ellsbury among my starters. Man, I hope this trade scares the guys in front of me. I did it as much to help my team as to mess with their minds, hoping they make some mistakes or desperate moves.

This is the customary time when the defendant expresses regret for the crimes they committed, so let me do that because I am not without my regrets. I am here today to be sentenced for my participation in releasing mink from 6 fur farms. I regret it was only 6. I'm also here today to be sentenced for my participation in the freeing of 8,000 mink from those farms. I regret it was only 8,000. It is my understanding of those 6 farms, only 2 of them have since shut down. I regret it was only 2.

More than anything, I regret my restraint, because whatever damage we did to those businesses, if those farms were left standing, and if one animal was left behind, then it wasn't enough.

I don't wish to validate this proceeding by begging for mercy or appealing to the conscience of the court, because I know if this system had a conscience I would not be here, and in my place would be all the butchers, vivisectors, and fur farmers of the world.

Just as I will remain unbowed before this court- who would see me imprisoned for an act of conscience- I will also deny the fur farmers in the room the pleasure of seeing me bow down before them. To those people here whose sheds I may have visited in 1997, let me tell you directly for the first time, it was a pleasure to raid your farms, and to free those animals you held captive. It is to those animals I answer to, not you or this court. I will forever mark those nights on your property as the most rewarding experience of my life.

And to those farmers or other savages who may read my words in the future and smile at my fate, just remember: We have put more of you in bankruptcy than you have put liberators in prison. Don't forget that.

Let me thank everyone in the courtroom who came to support me today. It is my last wish before prison that each of you drive to a nearby fur farm tonight, tear down its fence and open every cage.

My pitching staff: Justin Masterson, James Shields, C.C. Sabathia, Carlos Zambrano, Kevin Correia, Sanchez, Ricky Romero are the starters and I have Brian Wilson, Huston Street, and Jose Valverde are reflief pitchers. My starting line-up is Yadier Molina, Prince Fielder, Brandon Phillips, ARod, Alex Gonzalez, Justin Upton, Carlos Lee, Jacoby Ellsbury, Austin Jackson, and Corey Patterson. We have two utilities. I'm already feeling the hurt with Pujols on the DL because I moved Fielder from the utility spot to 1b, then moved Jackson up. I'm looking at ditching Morneau because he's been on/off the DL and hasn't really contributed. He was supposed to back at the beginning of July , but he just had neck surgery which delays that for another six weeks.

I'm actually in three leagues--the one I mentioned (which I really want to win) and a couple of others that I'm doing different things in to try and find strategies that work.

Everyone on the podcast I listen to and all the articles I read said pitching was deep this year. So I didn't start to draft pitching until the 8th round, which is where I got Carpenter. I took Haren in the 9th. My major problem this year was taking Dan Uggla and Adam Dunn in the first five rounds. Both are hitting in the .180 range. I'm dead last in batting average, which makes all the other categories that much more important.

I've really started to follow the philosophy of "Don't pay for saves." I'm middle of the pack with Street and League, and I didn't take Street until somewhere around the 13th round. I'm finding this an effective strategy because you can always make a trade for a closer or pick up a closer somewhere in the season because usually at least one-third of the teams change closers during the season. (I also watch for closers heading for the DL and try for their replacement.)

I did the auto pick because the draft started really late. I didn't do too bad. I've only made 10 moves to date, 7 of which are due to the DL and one douchebag retiring. I dumped Morneau and picked up Danny Espinosa. Now I just gotta figure where I'm going to put him.

I don't follow any of the podcasts or websites. I just compare the stats and make my decision that way. I tried to follow those, but it only made things worse. And since I really don't follow baseball...

I had a very pleasant day visiting Maine today with family and friends. Went to Kennebunkport, did a lot of walking, some shopping, and had a nice lunch of haddock, coleslaw, chowder, and fries. The ocean was beautiful today and it was nice seeing all those boats out there. We left around 9:30 a.m. and it took us about 2 and 1/2 hours to get there. Good thing we left early, when we were coming back the traffic was backed up for over 12 miles going in the direction we just came from. Those poor people will be sitting for hours.

Tonight it's steak on the grill and frozen margarita's. I love summer.

My wife's birthday is tomorrow. Yesterdayshe announces that we're going celebrate her birthday next weekend. I guess she decided she doesn't want to show up at work hungover. It's also cool because the bithday present I want to get her will be back in stock.

I am on vacation, staying up late and doing a lot of writing and editing and checking on some web sites. Hell, I just had a ham sandwich and a glass of juice, and it's almost 11:00 p.m.!

(All the fireworks around here were cancelled due to the threat of thunder showers, which didn't happen).

Tearing apart the wall next to the toilet in the laundry room and replacing wall board and the radiator. Who in their right mind put a radiator right next to a toilet? Over 25 years of odor to deal with. Yech.... I put down 6 coats of poly on the new radiator and just cut the drywall and will put poly on that also. My wife made a sign saying that any man that uses that bathroom to pee must sit down. Good luck with that.

But..if it doesn't rain tonight we are going to a Red Sox game this evening. Gonna spend a nice late afternoon walking around Boston and enjoying the sights.

It is expensive, but it's good. I've been to several over the years, they do differ in quality with some better than others, but I've never had a bad steak there.
