The Table Chapbook and missing Ushers Pages
Does anyone know where I can get The Table Chapbook? I've been looking for awhile, and have yet to locate one. Also, I bought a trade version of The Ushers super cheap, but it didn't come with the missing pages. Would someone be able to help me out with this? If so, Pm me or email me. Thanks in advance.
Hey. I sold a copy of THE TABLE through Horror Mall Auction House in April to Jonah. If you are an Edward Lee completist of course you need to get one. It is not one of his strongest stories. Not like SHITHOUSE. Or SECRET SERVICE. Or THE DRITIPHILIST or MAGRATH MODEL BLAH BLAH BLAH...............Those are some serious stories. My life would be much less than complete if I hadn't read them! THE TABLE? Of course curiosity tells a person that he has got to know everything. Obsessions are obsessions. That's why I ended up having a copy to eventually sell to Jonah! And that's why I presently own 3 hardcover copies of THE USHERS, one of them lettered. I had the HCs on sale at Horror Mall for $50. I can get one to you for that price if you want. If you want me to photo copy the missing pages I could do that also as long as this doesn't violate any copywrite laws or raise ethical concerns about dissemination of contraband ideas. Maybe there was a very good reason the CIA, FBI, and the NSA, together on a joint mission, broke into Obsidian's warehouse and carefully cut out those pages.............
Jeez. Now I gotta go to my collection of books in boxes, dig through them and locate my HORROR OF CHAMBERS and take a look at it. Is my copy lettered or numbered? Gotta find out! For $10 including shipping this is a no brainer. I might be needing a couple more of these. Wow. Thanks, Kim. Even though Tony in his last mass email thanked a guy named Regan for saving the United States or some such thing........ Wasn't he Ronald Reagan Sec. of Treasury and then Sec. of State? Jeez, that Tony guy must delve deep into that darkness peering!!!
Is there an Errata sheet for the Errata sheet? In my lettered copy of THE USHERS. The story THE HORROR OF CHAMBERS ends on page 175. The Errata sheet has the page 75a listed on it!
It has been so long since I have see a copy of either the limited or lettered state, I honestly can't answer. Do you have both states where you can compare them side by side? Kim
I looked at both hardcover states. THE HORROR OF CHAMBERS starts and ends on the same page in both editions. However, I do not presently have a trade paperback copy. Perhaps someone else can help out here.
Maybe this will help. In my Pb version of Ushers, Horror of Chambers starts off on page 165 with a foreword from Ed, followed by an illustration on 166, and the actual story starting on 167. It goes up to page 175, with the last 2 sentences being " The man grinned nefariously; his lips, wet and oozing with organic bilge. "I must have the Yellow Sign!", and then an illustration on 176 for Sciptures, which starts on page 177.
Wow, that's a blast from the past. I think I actually wrote the first draft of that story in 1980, maybe, and it got published in a Paul Ganley semi-pro mag called Eerie Country. The story's pretty bad but it was thrilling to see it get printed! I'll always be grateful to Mr. Ganely for giving me that shot.
