What is everyone reading?

I have been trying to mix it up a little, but I am so determined to bring my horror novel TBR Pile down, that I feel guilty for picking anything else up to read.

I have slipped in a few modern classics this year and some Palahniuk. Early in the year I told myself that I was going to try to read a non-horror novel for every five horror novels that I read. I don't think that has been working too well, as I have read much more horror. It has been a good reading year so far, so I can't complain. My scifi TBR pile is creeping up, and I have so much more to read there.

I think it is time to learn how to speed read. I don't know if I really believe in speed reading though. Wouldn't that take away from the book?

It took me 2.6 seconds to read your post, HHF. And I agree. I too feel that Labs are far smarter than German Shepherds.

That is a very eerie opening, carefully crafted, and yet according to that speed-reading book I would have to do without part of it. I wonder which part is expendable?

finished off Robert McCammon's Queen of Bedlam. very good read. I can't wait for his next book Mr. Slaughter to come out in January.

I picked out Clive Barker's Galilee last night from the shelf of TBR's. I've had this book for years and never could bring myself to pick it up. I think you have to be in a certain place in your reading sometimes to read certain books, or maybe it's just me. I hear this is a good one, tho. so I'm gonna give it a go.

That is tied with November Mourns (Pic) in being my favorite book of all time. Barker rocks, as does Galillee.

finished off Galilee by Clive Barker yesterday. it wasn't what I expected. a fairly good read, but I enjoyed Imajica and Weaveworld better. I like a little more horror in my fantasy novels I guess. Galilee seemed more drama than anything. But I am glad I finally read it. been on the shelf for far too long.

I picked up Bentley Little's The Return to read outta the TBR pile. I plan on starting it today.

I really enjoyed Galillee, a lot. It's my favorite Barker novel and one of my favorite novels ever. I guess how much you enjoy a novel depends on where you are personally when you read it. It make a huge impression on me.

I'm finishing up Jonathan Maberry's Ghost Road Blues and the first Dark Tower graphic novel. After that, I'm thinking of jumping into John Ronson's The Men Who Stare At Goats.

Just started Koontz's The House of Thunder for the interim... an oldie, hopefully a goody.

I got Swan Song by Robert McCammon on my Kindle and I'm over half way thru it. I love reading on my Kindle. I read about 10 times faster than a standard book.
