Well, I finally made it through Night Lust and here are my thoughts on the book, and a few more thoughts on Night Bait:
First off, the covers of the books are rather strange. The whole fruit theme does NOT bode well with either book. Secondly, neither of the back descriptions of the books really do a good job in telling you what's in the books.
A shame though what happened to the twins. I would have liked to have read more about them. Also, a nice little nod to Richard Laymon in here, as one of the characters is actually named R. Laymon.
There were a few nice twists in this book, as it kept you guessing on who the actual killer is.
However, like Night Bait, they just don't do justice to the tales that Ed has written recently. Like Night Bait, I would recommend this to the long time and hardcore Edward Lee fans, and steer it clear away from any newbies' hands. Also, I should mention for anyone trying to get the Straker novels, for some reason, Night Bait is easier to get and that this one is the harder of the two to find.
Anyone else read this or Night Bait, and if so, what did you think?
Although I was going to go ahead and read his next novel Ghouls, I decided to jump ahead a few books and read The Bighead, as my order of it, Minotauress, and Psychopath came in.
Wow, sorry you wasted your dough on Night Lust. Again, it was a learning experience--by doing everything WRONG I hope I'm now learning to do it right. I remember back then Zebra called the theme their "Fruit & Knife" books. For pity's sake! GHOULS, I think, is a lot better. As for HEADER 2--ah, now THAT'S a book I'm proud of. Can't wait for you all to read it.
