HEADER 2 IN PROGRESS

Just wanted to let you know that I've officially started my sequel to Header (working title: Header 2) and in 2 days am already up to a whopping 4000 words! I suspect it will be a longish novel of unrepentant, redneck scatological smut. All I'll say at this early point is that Header 2 will involve a Vendetta/backwoods fued between the Vinchetti crime family (from The Pig, The House, "The McCrath Model SS40-C, Series S" and the relatives of Travis Tuckton and his grandfather "Grandpap" Martin. I'm fairly sure it will take unexpected turns and succeed in maxing the typical reader's Grossometer. I'm so geared up for this, I'm a bit ashamed of myself...

Man, that is awesome news! Really looking forward to it. BTW, if you do a search at Fangoria.com, I think you can find the Header dvd cover art, according to them, the movie will be released in June. Can't wait!!!

I love the concept already!!
Picture a mafioso family that's used to getting what they want, when they want, (Money drugs and prostitution) by running the streets of their city with an iron fist.
Now place those same individuals in a backwoods environment where knowledge of the wilderness is laid in the hands of their adversaries. A family with principles all their own and a lust for blood they've turned into an art form.
Sounds pretty fucking awesome to me!!

Sounds like it will work well enough as a stand alone novel, which is probably necessary because who knows when it will be legally possible to reprint the original HEADER novella.

This is fantastic! Header is what started off this whole business. Let's just hope Header II doesn't finish it.....

Folks: I'm back from an out of town trip and back in the groove on Header 2--12000 words into it now and it tickles me pink. I'm hoping that a few unexpected surprises are in order. And, Wetbones, I can't say with 100-percent certainty but even though I no longer own reprint rights to the original Header, I'm told it will be reprinted.

HEADER is a very cool story. It is the first publication from Necro.Released as a trade paperback sized novella.Signed and #ed edition of 300. Reprinted in SEX, DRUGS AND POWER TOOLS. What's the power tool thing all about? Hmmmm.
I am really looking forward to HEADER II. I was telling Greg Kettner, the owner of Dreamhaven Books about it, and he just shakes his head. Didn't quiz me on possible publishers, date of release or anything! Some people just don't get it. I wonder what's wrong with these people. Just lost their childish sense of wonder, I guess!
I must have missed something about publishing rights along the way lately.
Ed, who has the rights to HEADER and will they reprint as a tie-in when the dvd is released?

This is great news! I loved Header and the new story sounds even better. I'll have to go watch Next of Kin; it's got a theme of rednecks vs. gangsters and includes Liam Neeson(!) as a redneck. It'll put me in the mood....

The producers of HEADER own the print rights for the story now. When it will be reprinted, I don't know but it would be to their advantage to release it in vicinity to the DVD release. I'm going to email them now and try to find out what's going on.

Meanwhile, HEADER 2 continues to progress. It's a lot of fun, a lot of gross-out, a lot of smut, and--i hope--pretty dang cool!

Unfortunately, there'll ever be a Header/Header 2 edition simply because they own the print rights to the first one and I own the print rights to the sequel. (Nor would it be practical in either case 'cos Header 2 is looking like it'll wind up being a 100,000-word novel! A book including both at once would be so fat, the unit cost would probably be prohibitive.) I'm about 20k words into it now and it's really rocking. I'm actually starting to feel guilty abuot having this much fun writing redneck/horrorr/smut!

Congrats on the sequel Ed. I'm really looking forward to the comedy and carnage. My copy of Header is something I have truly protected and refused to loan out to some of my "responsible friends". However, I have a lettered Sex, Drugs, and Power Tools, so I could let my chapbook, #378 of Header go if someone was willing to give me what I paid for it, plus, maybe $25. I offer this not because I'm broke or anything like that, but as the old saying goes, "read the book before watching the movie".

I have one mint copy of the Header chapbook myself--I don't even let people look at it much less touch it. However, the prospect for a reprint of Header is still quite good; I'll keep you posted as I hear more. I also heard yesterday that the Header DVD might be out in late-June, so, please, everybody knoock on wood!

Meanwhile, Header 2 continues to soar--I'm up to over 30k words; I seem to spend half my writing time nauseated and the other half chuckling. I can't say I never had so much fun writing something so irredeemable but if not, this is dang close!

There seems to be a whole new bunch of folks discovering Edward Lee's writings. This might be a product of the Leisure releases and the trade paperback line from Necro. I am very happy to see the fan base grow! There are many people who just need to be exposed to one book and they are hooked.
On the other hand, I suppose we do not hear from the people who shudder and quake and thank their Savior that there are people in worse shape than they are. I remember this gal I borrowed a copy of Charlee Jacob's HAUNTER to......but never mind. Way off topic.
Anyway. Cool!! HEADER II is well along. Is that a writing title or is it going to be THE TITLE?

Yes, I agree with you both: HEADER 2 will be the title. I'm 70,000-plus-words into it. It's TOO MUCH fun!

I cannot wait to read this! I never got to read the original, so I'm praying to the Great Old Ones that it gets reprinted with the dvd release! I want to see the movie so bad it hurts!

I'll keep you posted on the reprint of Header 1; it will be released, I'm just not sure who or where. Also, I'll be at the Horrorfind convention in Hunt Valley MD this Sept 25-27, and will be selling copies along with the distributor. The producer wil be there too and probably the director and maybe even one of the stars.

I think this is the first Horrorfind in 5 years that I'm gonna miss. My wife is due to give birth two days before and she's already vetoed my seemingly wonderful idea of bringing along our two day old. But..it is really nice that it's going to be back in Hunt Valley this year though. That venue rocks.
