I seem to remember this title being talked about last year. Any plans still for this beauty in the future Ed? I'd be scoffin myself up a copy of that one right quick!!!
Regrettably, though I think I can assure it will one day be written, BH's Autopsy is fairly way on down the line. But I've got all kind's of cool stuff coming up. HEADER 2 will likely take till May, and in June I start my next Leisure pb, THE SIXTUS. When the latter's done, I'll probably have time for some shorter stuff. Thanks, as always for your support!

I know you have only just wetted? (is that a real word) our appetite with a whole list of new ideas, just wondered if this idea still had a chance of becoming real?

Considering THE BIGHEAD's fame/infamy as one of Ed's best known and most loved works it has always surprised me that a follow-up seems to be of low priority. One should think that publishers would be clamoring for more of BIGHEAD's special brand of peckersnotty action at least as loudly as us fans.
The word is "whet." To sharpen, to incite. A whetstone is used to put an edge on a knife. Now I have to get on the net and look up. "Alien Autopsy." Anybody remember this clip shown on Fox 15 or so years back that showed a Stickman/Bighead vgetting cut up? I recall that a vintage WW2 camera was used with separate controls for zoom and focus so that when the zoom was changed the focus had to be adjusted.......
JPOKELA....I DO remember that, although vaguely. That was a long time ago....I should look that up on YouTube, I'm pretty sure someone has to have posted that video. Thanks for the reminder.
According to Wiki, it was a fraud. The director claims it was a remake of some film he received that dis-integrated after he watched it. I guess the money he scammed from FOX precludes him from saying it was a total fake! This is the one and only time Rupert Murdoch's News Corp has ever published something that wasn't 100% true!!!!!!
in terms of sequels and tie in novels, lee doesnt seem like he falls into that trap. theres alot of great authors who can only write the same novel over and over, jeff lindsay, rex miller, brian lumley, there good authors but there one trick ponys. lee isnt . he dosnt just limit himself to gross out pieces either. my favorite lee stories are still in the year of our lord and godess of the new dark age . thats overall his best work.

Writing a sequel just to cash in on a title or franchise the fans love usually results in poor quality product. I don't think any of Ed's sequels fall into that category. HEADER 2 had a great story and was, in my humble opinion, even better than the original. THE HOUSE was also far from a rehash of THE PIG. And it would seem that Ed has a worthwhile idea to expand the BIGHEAD universe, otherwise he wouldn't have floated the sequel idea in the first place. If it takes some more years, that's fine, too. I think I've been waiting for Clive Barker's fucking THIRD BOOK OF THE ART for 15 fucking years and it's not like I'm the least bit fucking bitter about it!
Thanks much, all of you, for the generous words. I do make a steadfast effort to see to it that my sequels aren't rehash. I try to throw as many curveballs that I possibly can. I remember a long, long time ago, I had several telephone pitch meetings with Brannon Braga, one of the producers of Star Trek Voyager (he didn't buy anything, of course!) but he told me something I've taken to heart ever since: in sequel you must divert from the original concept enough to surprise even yourself. That turned out to be dynamite advice and I'm grateful for it. (I actually pitched him an occult concept for the show which involved succubi in space, and he liked it, told me spruce it up in several ways, and then re-pitch it with the changes. This I did but, lo, I didn't get Braga on the next phone pitch session--it was some guy named Joe, and he didn't like it. Just my luck!)
Wetbones, Demonizer: I'veprobably mentioned this is the past but long ago I aimed to do just that--hardcore, hi-tech sci-fi--with a project called The Epicycle, but it never jelled. If I remember correctly, I lost faith in it 'cos I wanted to write The Bighead instead, so I gave Epicycle to Damon as a collab, but that didn't work out either. Maybe one day I'll take another shot at it.
Edward Lee PS--nothing could intrigue me more than an alien hock party! Or, hell, some astronauts whose descendents hail from Headerland...why not throw a header on an alien?
Actually, probably not, MArk, though at one time I was all for it. Thinking on it now, though, it occurs to me that novelizing it would be superfluous. But I'm pretty sure I'll do more off the wall sci-fi horror. Hope all's good with you!
One of my "issues" with horror is my ability to suspend disbelief. A normal horror story involving haunted vaginas or posessed earthworms causes me trouble. Actually it causes. The book trouble bas I give it a toss into the corner. But for bwhatever reason I believe in aliens and spaceships and such. So a story like the restored BIGHEAD is right up my alley. I totally buy into it. I also am a sucker for Gods. Throw some of that into the mix and I buy it. LORD OF LIGHT by Zelazny or AMERICAN GODS by Neal Gaiman. Love that stuff. Might be why I liked SLITHER more than most people!
