Walking my dog this morning and there was a young lady out with her pom. It did the dog thing and started barking at Shelley. The young "lady" then proceeds to grab the poor dog by the muzzle and yells at it to shut up. She was being quite violent. I crossed the street and told her to stop it, that the dog was only protecting her "territory" from an invader. I was calm and cool. But the entire time I wanted to grab her by her throat and put my hand over her mouth and scream at her to "Shut the fuck up, you stupid bitch!" See how she liked it. Next time I'm taking my cell phone and calling the cops. Record the entire thing.

That's why I like what some cable channels are doing with their shows. Ten to thirteen episodes in a "season." Maybe ten episodes, then a break, then another ten. The only downside to that is the wait. And the fact I now watch most of these shows online instead of on TV, which can add to the wait time depending on the channel.
Mads Mikkelson as Hannibal Lector?? Holy cow I hope that's on some channel I can watch.
I've kept on watching The Following, which has settled down and become a reasonable show. And The Americans (the 80's Russian spy show). I'm really enjoying this one. Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys have a good script and really make the most of their characters. Love Person of Interest but I miss a lot of it because it's fencing night.
I'm also still enjoying the hell out of Arrow. This last couple of weeks we've had the inclusion of Manu Bennett from Spartacus (Crixus! Crixus!) which is decidedly awesome.
I have, at three o' clock this afternoon, got to the end of my re-edit of Vampire #2. Finally. So now I have a choice to make. Edit Vampire 3, or Carousel 2. I really thought I'd be done with the vamps by Christmas. Oh well.
1) Green pill! I'd go hurtling after those guys in the flying suits with a GoPro on their helmets. "Hey, how's it going, fellas?"
2) Thad, sorry about the spoiler on Arrow (about Crixus).
3) Spent all day reading though Vampire #3 and holy crap I know I shouldn't blow my own horn but I have a kick ass with kick ass sauce battle in at the end and if I can just polish it up and bring it all together.... ~sigh~
Lovin' life. I have acute bronchitis. Just in time for my trip to NYC. And they gave me no instructions about whether I should stay in or I can go out....I love the VA hospital.

Back from NYC and lots of fun. First thing I did was visit the 9/11 Memorial. Was a humblimg experience. The thing that really pissed me off: people were already defacing the marble slabs with the list of names. Seriously? Next up was my visit to the Met. LOVED IT! My second favorite museum next to the Asian Art Museum of San Fran. Walked around and by the time I found the library it was almost 2 so I didn't get a chance to use it. I did find a couple of books that will help me with my asian art paper. Also, the section of the library that had the Chinese scroll work was closed. There was still enough to keep me happy. Then it was back down to Chinatown.
After the museum visit, I had to try some food from the street vendors. Turned out to be much better than I had thought. Tried some authentic New York pizza. It was hit or miss. Most surreal moment of my life: The Taxicab Ride. Checked into my hotel at around 5:30. Did some internet research and found a place called Forbidden Planet. Went to check it out. Took a cab. For those of you who haven't been there, NYC cabs have a tv installed so the passengers can see a forecast, a quick rundown of the news, and messages from the NYC Taxi Cab Commissioner. Those lines between the curbs? Only suggestions. My driver decided that it would be much quicker to drive on the left hand side of the street. So the entire time we're dodging oncoming traffic, the taxicab Comish is going on about how proud he is that NYC has the best and safest taxicab drivers in the world. Best $20 I ever spent.
Woke up late on Sunday and had to check out by 10. Went back to Chinatown and did some shopping. On my way to the bus stop to meet with the rest of the group and lo-and-behold! there were two kids sitting in a blinged out power-wheel. Yes, it was a Cadillac Escalade. Sound system and everything. Got to the bus stop at 2 because we were supposed to be on the road by 3. Hint: if you "charter" a bus, make sure you and the bus company understand what the term charter means. 3 rolls around and we're told that the bus won't be there until 5. And so begins a long, painfully drawn out fight between the bus rep and the leader of the excursion. But we finally left at 4:30.
Overall, I had a lot of fun. Would love to go up there a couple more times and finish seeing the sights I missed out. Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn, and more time at the Met. I just don't see how anyone in their right mind would WANT to live there.

I loved the transportation system. I figured it out very quickly. Better than the people in charge of the trip. It surprised me how many times they had been there and they were getting off the subway one stop too early to get to our hotel. And I have the blister to prove it. But my big bitch was the driving. I would give myself a week before I refitted my truck to something out of Mad Max and went on a killing spree. Just watching them drive gave me road rage.
New Yorkers weren't as bad as people made them out to be. Found them quite friendly and helpful. Of all the places I've been, I'd easily place them in my top 5 for friendliest cities in the world.

Watched Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo on the big screen last night - 70MM. It was glorious. I had goosebumps at the end.
Also picked Who Framed Roger Rabbit newly released on Blu Ray. One of my three favourite movies of all time.

I'd just passed Angels Stadium and was driving the truck through the upper section of the 'Orange Crush' (a coming together of freeways and the 5 Interstate that you REALLY don't want to get to know), about to head west, eventually past the refineries (Look Ma! Top of the world!) on my way to Long Beach. Sun was low over the Pacific and the horizon was all yellow and grey swirls and right below and ahead of me were endless, multiple lines of fast-moving traffic going this way and that, while out of the corner of my eye I could see the beacon on top of the Crystal Cathedral blinking and blinking and it felt like an opening scene from Blade Runner.
Thing is, I had Focus on the cd player. And as I drove it inspired a memory of when I used to listen to this very same music while I did my homework, especially during the time I studied for my O Levels. I was a teen, still too young to drive, and we were living above my aunt's hairdressing salon while Dad built our new house and I had no clue where I was going in life or what I was doing, but I was 6,000 miles east, at a much higher latitude, where the sun set over the Irish Sea.
Thirty going on forty years, same music, but holy cow, what a switch. Funny how music does that. And in some respects it's a pity, because there are some pieces I can hardly bear listen to.
It's funny, I was listening to a Neil Young concert from 1976 on my way to work this morning. I was at that concert and remembering him playing many of the songs that were coming out of my car stereo. I got to thinking about seeing him recently, playing some of those same songs over 40 years later. Things do change. But not really.
For a second there, I thought that was Angelina Jolie and that, yes, your vagina can murder something, namely Billy Bob Thornton's career since they divorced.
Today was a good day. Nearly done with my Asian Art History paper. Just gotta hit the library tomorrow and finish it up. Then to shoot it off to my instructor for edit. Just because someone says use MLA doesn't mean use MLA.
The thing that really brightened my day: A video that I ordered 3 weeks ago was supposed to be delivered today. Got the tracking number and everything. When it didn't arrive, I looked it up and saw that it was being returned due to an error (turned out that the address was wrong). Went in to the post office only to find it closed. On my way to the car an employee by the name of George asked if I needed help. I told him what was going on and gave him the tracking number. He checked their records and saw that it was being returned to sender. We thought it left on the 12 pm mail truck. I went home. Just before 8, there's a knock on the door and my roommate answers it. It's George. He has the envelope with the dvd in it. He stuck around and found it. Instead of just correcting the address and having it delivered Monday, he hand delivered. He stayed there an extra 4 hours to find the package. I'm kinda torn though. With all the stupid regulations and whatnot, I don't know if I'll get him fired if I send in a note praising him for his diligence. Too many news stories about guys going above and beyond and getting fired for it.
