Argh.

A quick look online and everyone is writing new material, sending stories to editors, going to conventions and all kinds of other wonderful stuff. Stuff I'd like to do but can't while I'm sat in the hole - pulling a sentence out, putting it back in again; running over dialogue again and again, trying to make it less wooden; trying to make everything leaner, better, have it make sense and be entertaining, before madness takes over and commands me to bash my skull repeatedly against the desk until I bleed.

During the doldrum months of January and February it's the bloody bastard worst, I must say.

Incidentally, I wish everyone all the best on these various endeavors, this is just me bitching and moaning.

Okay, I feel better now

I watched a documentry regarding the wildlife there. Their fur is radioactive. It is too bad.

Those shots are amazing, particularly the first one, and the one with the hog family dashing across the road.

Just got back from fencing class. Advanced spanish destreza followed by sword and buckler (which I've never done before). If it doesn't kill me I'll have shoulders as dainty as a linebacker by the time I'm done.

It's not all mindless crap. Some poignant, inspiring, heartbreaking posts being put out there right now - Neil Gaiman's recent post about the death of his dog, Brian Keene's Borderlands speech, and Clive Barker's post on Facebook last night (which has inspired some amazing comments).

Today was a pretty f'd up day, weather-wise. Last week it got into the high teens/low 20s for a high, then the last three days was in the 50s, then today it was in the 20s again and there were flurries, then sunshine, then flurries, then sunshine, on and on all day.

New apartment. New roommate. Both of us are going through a divorce. Landlord addressed our problems with the apartment a whole hell of a lot faster than my old place. He was out of town on business and got maintenance in there the day after I sent a list of stuff to be fixed. It took my the other place three weeks to fix my ceiling and the roof and they were only two buildings over.

Next up: school trip to New York City. Having a cheaper place and a roommate now means I can get to do stuff like this.
