Most appreciative, Mark. Self-serving as this is going to make me sound, you always come across with points and articulation that nail precisely what I try to do. It's more than gratifying to read your keen comments. I am little more than a shadow in several genres, cast by a barely substantial presence in general fiction, and if that's freedom and uniqueness for me, it hasn't made it easy for fans to find or follow my career. I guess I knew a long time ago that I was choosing a lot of obscurity, if I did things my way, but you help close the odds for me that I'll reach a much bigger audience. Hope they're all like you! |

I'm certainly grateful that you've pursued a path of freedom and uniqueness, Sully. I love variety in my reading, and I'm looking forward to seeing where you take me in each of your subsequent novels. I went over to Amazon to post a version of my comments as a reader review there, and came across a review with this comment: "I had been caught up in a literary storyteller's dramatic talent and had fallen in love with, not so much the story, but the way the story was told. Rich reading, indeed." Now, my experience is that the story is also superb, but I understand the reviewer's love of the language and storytelling art itself. "Rich reading" is exactly right for describing the experience of BORN BURNING, and THE PHASES OF HARRY MOON. I've high hopes and reasonable expectations that I'll find all of your books will live up to those words to one degree or another. I'll keep you posted! Mark |
