What are you doing/reading/watching/writing? I'm spending most of this weekend writing. I hope to have the novel finished by early March. I'm making good progress so far. There are several short stories I have to squeeze into the schedule. It would be nice to finish one of them before Monday. A local magazine wants me to do a new humor column for them in each issue, so I need to work up a sample column this weekend. Dave and I are shopping around the sequel to Dead Earth: The Green Dawn, and making plans to write the third book in the series. I just read JAKE'S WAKE by John Skipp and Cody Goodfellow. If you loved the Skipp & Spector splatterpunk novels, buy this now. It's a ton of fun. Now I'm reading some Donald Westlake (specifically MURDER AMONG CHILDREN, written under his Tucker Coe pen name). And I'm working on Pod of Horror #50. |

The company is sending me back to the mine next week for another interpretation job. Hopefully I'll have WiFi at the bed & breakfast where I'll be staying. Still want to write a story for Horror Library 4 but haven't had a chance to write anything yet. Can't believe almost half of January is gone. In the meantime I've been reading stories for Horror Library 1 and 3 and watching Heroes, Brimstone, The Amazing Race and episodes of Fear Itself that were not aired in the US (though the two I've seen were not that great). Also working on some layouts for Bad Moon, some really cool stuff coming this year. |

I had actually given up on Heroes a while back but went back because I just had to know what happened with Meredith and that creepy puppeteer guy. I watched the end of season 3 last night. There was a lot to be desired in terms of story. For me the biggest flaw with the characters is having many characters with the same power. My thoughts and reasons why this season was just BAD (SPOILERS APLENTY WARNING for those who still want to see season 3): - There's a comic book that tells the whole story. Yet NO ONE skips to the end of the comic to see how everything will end. - Sylar is bad, then he's good, then he's bad, then he doesn't really care, then he's bad, but c'mon he has a reason to be bad......... - There's HUGE concern regarding an eclipse which eventually takes everyone's powers away. However, the eclipse passes, everyone gets their powers back and THIS HAS NO EFFECT ON THE STORY WHATSOEVER - There's another huge plot point near the end regarding a "catalyst" that was placed inside Claire when she was a baby. Hiro and Claire travel back in time, they manage to change the course of events so that the catalyst goes into young Hiro, instead of young Claire. And for what? Arthur Petrelli finds Hiro just after he has received the catalyst and steals it, rendering the whole thing pointless. - Season 3 is a BIG RIPOFF of season 1. There's another madman trying to get someone into the presidency to change the world with powers. - Mohinder turns into The Fly. - Ali Larter's character was such a mess (again with the good/bad/good/bad thing) that they actually created another character for Ali Larter and killed the previous one. - Meredith and the blue fire guy are estranged brothers. Yet this doesn't really matter because in the end they never get to meet. That said, I think Robert Forster was a great villain (I'm talking about his acting). |

I'm still watching Heroes, but I agree that it has a lot of problems. I think shows like Smallville and the unfortunately now gone The 4400 both have done a much better job of making a comicbook type show. As to what's new with me, I've been very busy but with things that are not interesting or fun to talk about. I'm writing an RPG adventure for my gaming group but that's it for writing. I seem to have hit a wall with story writing for the past few months which has, at least temporarily, killed any interest in writing. I'm not sure why it happened but I'm taking a break from it until the desire returns, if it does. ![]() |

I'm still watching, though for me it jumped the shark when they started a season without Lex Luthor. |
