I've had the week from hell at work. Long Days. 2 hours of sleep a night. Now I just want to kick back with a book. But...I have some writing to do. I owe stories to two editors. The novel calls. I have to finish edits on the Dead Earth sequel. So I'm going to sit and read for a while.

Sorry to hear about the bad week,Mark. Hope you get to relax with your book this weekend and recharge. I have to do some edits on a story I recently finished. I will be attending Gen Con this Thursday through Sunday and I signed up to read a five minute section of something I wrote before a panel of published writers for advice and I plan to use a section of it. Five minutes doesn't get me very far though, so I'm not sure if I should read the first little section which is mostly set-up, or the second section which gets more into the meat and ideas of the story.

I got some reading done yesterday amidst intermittent napping. I also worked on one of the short stories I need to write. Then my brother and mother came over for dinner and Dave and I ended up watching Balls of Fury. Big stupid fun. Today I hope to finish the story and get a few pages done on the novel. |

Well, GenCon was a lot of fun. I set up an interview with my favorite horror artist to do for a Vintage Horror article. I just have to get some phone recording equipment and try to write good questions for him. The story reading went pretty good. They all liked my dialog and were intrigued by the strange haunted bridge but pointed out some areas where I needed to rewrite some. I was a little suprised that most of them thought it was moving too quickly at the start. I thought it was going to slow. Also a couple of things I considered taking out completely, they all mentioned liking, and even thought I should expand on it. I got really helpful feedback and am glad I did it. 
BTW, Tim said to say hi. I got my picture taken with him but it wasn't on the day I wore the POH T-shirt as I forgot my camera on the day I wore it.  A guy at one of the booths noticed it though. He asked questions about the podcast and I filled him in. He said he was going to check it out, so I got a bit of advertising in. I wore it on Saturady which is the busiest day of the con.
