The Writing Show always has several members of the Australian Horror Writers Assc. read short stoies and talk about writing every Halloween. I haven't got to listen to all the ones from this year yet but one I listened to yesterday was really neat. Afterwards, the author credited M.R. James as a major influence on the tale. The author is named Rick Kennett and the story is titled Chinese Whispers. It's about the game that is played by whispering a phrase to one person and each passes it down to the next and a different message emerges at the end. This story is very creepy, which I loved.
