Hi guys, thanks for dropping by.... My latest entry on www.storytellersunplugged.com (June 4th entry) is on Atmosphere, how I struggle with it in my writing, how I try to create, and ultimately what it means to me. Some folks have left some fine comments, so feel free to add your thoughts, and definitely check out the other writers clocking in daily to offer their valuable advice on the art of writing (or give Writers Digest your money, if you must). Itemid=261 ) reviewed Weird Tales 344, which included my piece, “Spider Comes Home.” The comment on my piece was: “Saturated with musical and rhythmic undertones, “Spider Comes Home” by Gerard Houarner reads much like a tribal myth. A young boy leaves his village to find and confront a man creature known as Spider, upon whom all the villagers blame their misfortunes. How much better would everyone’s life be, the boy thinks, if only he can convince Spider to stop doing the bad things he does? Rich in imagery and almost epic in nature, it is a deeply satisfying conclusion to this Weird Tales issue.” |
