Hi Any ideas on what the next Deadite release for Ed Lee is going to be? I know they have mentioned Header and a 3 story collection, but they seem to be putting out a lot of Brian Keene this and next month (not that that is a bad thing) But I want more Ed Lee ![]() |

Supposedly, and don't quote me on this, Deadite Press will be releasing a new Edward Lee book very late in 2011 or early 2012... If I remember correctly, Jeff, said it's a new never before published title and not a reprint! ![]() |

It'd only make sense to follow up or supplement the short story and novella collections with original material eventually. Since everyone seems to be happy (Ed, Deadite, us readers) I'm all for it! |

Let us remember, folks. Ed has a very ambitious publishing schedule with Bloodletting Books. That will be his main outlet for the next three years. Reading the "author" page of his books from years ago clues me in that Ed has several abandoned or unsold projects. Dunno if any of that is ready to see print......... |

Thanks everyone for the interest in Deadite releases! The next Lee book from Deadite will be a novella collection containing Room 415, The Cyesolagniac, and The Decortication Technician. We're still working on a title and cover art for it. Then there will be Header (featuring a prequel story and some essays), Family Tradition, and the secret Deadite exclusive book. All of these are coming out this year. I can't announce any of the titles yet but we do have several books planed for 2012 and even into 2013. Expect an Edward Lee Deadite release every other month (roughly). |

That sounds great. I'm definitely looking forward to all of those especially the re-release of Header since i've only seen the movie. Tomorrow is my last day of class for this semester then I get a week off before my 2 spring classes start so hopefully I can finally read some of the many Lee titles in my TBR pile. ~Tony Beals |

Thanks very much, all, for your wonderful support! My Leisure pb's can't be rereleased unless I request the rights back; but they're so easily avaliable from the used market, I don't see much point, plus they're all on digital. And don't worry, there'll be PLENTY more Ed Lee releases from Deadite in the future. I've got SO MANY outlines ready to go, I'll be writing for years w/o a single new idea! Best, Edward Lee |

Now that's news I like to hear! Lots and lots of projects! You just mentioned that Leisure owns the rights to those titles and out of curiousity I was wondering if those rights will eventually expire and revert back to you? Are you going through the same mess that Brian Keene and many of the other Leisure authors were/are still going through? I hope not. That was/is a mess and I'm glad it hasn't gotten mentioned much on author boards lately. |

I could be mistaken but I believe my contracts state that I can ask for the rights back whenever I want. I don't anticipate doing that any time soon; these are old books. (Hell, City Infernal is almost ten years old!) As long as LEisure keeps these books available digitally, I'm cool with that. I really don't think they'd sell much in trade pb cos so many used copies exist as mmpbs; you can get em for a buck on ebay. And I appear to heave a different view toward Leisure in a general sense. They kept me gainfully employed for almost a decade, so I'm not going to bitch at them; I'm actually very grateful to them. Of course, I was hopping mad when they let Don D go, but that's another story. I'm ultimately grateful to Don--more than to any other editor of my career--but I'm also grateful to Leisure. Things change; and these economic dips occur on a regular basis (it's my third one!) I'm more geared toward the future now and am GEARED UP! Thanks, and take care! Edward Lee |

I can't believe its been almost 10 years since City Infernal was released. I remember going to Meijer's with my grandparents after I had got out of the Marines, and looking at the book section and seeing it there. Like usual it was the cover that drew me in but it was the backcover that got me to buy it, and as the saying goes the rest is history. There is a very select few authors that I will read pretty much everything thing they put out and you are one of them. Can't wait for all your future releases. ~Tony Beals |

Yeah, that was a major bummer hearing about Don... every author who has mentioned him has said nothing but great things. I was thinking I'd heard he'd been hired by another publisher(horror) or is starting a publishing company of his own sometime this year... I could be all wet on this, so don't quote me. Whatever the case, I hope things work out for him. He was a big reason why Leisure was so AWESOME and had so many GREAT titles coming out every year. I don't harbor any ill will towards Leisure... I wish them the best and hope everyone can get along. Of course, I might view that differently if I was in the shoes of the Leisure authors who are claiming their work is being used without permission. Thank God I'm only a reader and not a writer... some of the stuff they go through... long hours, low pay, bad benefits... ![]() Seriously, I envy the talent you and a few other authors have, Ed. It takes a ton of talent(among other things) to be a great writer. You're one of the greats! ![]() -Travis |

Hey Jeff - What are the chances of seeing digital editions of Deadite's Lee books? |
Author: | Edward Lee [ Sun Jun 19, 2011 12:35 pm ] |
Post subject: | Re: Next Deadite Press release? |
Deadite doesn't own digital rights to those books but they do own a speculative copyright on Buffet, Bullet, and the other two collections (they wrote the cover copy and came up with the titles, which I love.) Books like Haunter, 1852, Innswich, etc. will be released by Necro digitally after their print tpb counterparts have been out for a year. Eventually the contents of my Deadite collections will be released digitally probably as one omnibus short story collection and one omnibus novella collection. I've mentioned in the past who lucky I am to be realizing such outstanding sales during this recessions; God must be smiling on me, but why I don't know! I'm always grateful to Necro for their tpbs in the past and now this avalanche of digital sales, and am exponentially happy with Jeff Burk and company at Deadite for doing such a paramount job producing, marketing, and selling all these tpbs. They are an outfit of unprecedented professionalism and efficiency! I hope they will continue to want to release tpbs of my MANY upcoming projects. Thanks, all of you fans, for your indefatigable support! Best, Edward Lee |
