Just got my late Christmas present! Brain Cheese Buffet, Bullet Through Your Face, Haunter of the Threshold, and Trolley No.1852. I immediately read Makak because it was the only Ed Lee short I hadn't read. Wow. A great story. I'm very surprised that it hasn't turned up in a different collection somewhere. Why is this one so rare and hard to find? I know the hardcover only was published for the 4 people involved but I've never seen the chapbook anywhere. Now, I need to dig out my HP at Ed's request so I can dive into Haunter. Late Christmas is almost better than real Christmas! P.S. Thanks Deadite for helping us poor folk out!

Thanks for supporting Deadite!
Don't worry, there will be plenty more Deadite releases throughout the year.

Deadite had a wonderful 2010 with some FANASTIC books, and 2011 looks to be upping the ante. Great new works, amazing reprints, all with beautiful cover art. Long Live Deadite!

Thanks, all, for your interest and support. Indeed, Deadite is a DYNAMITE publisher (in fact, I just got a surprise check from them today--always a welcome event!) Makak was one of the older stories I'd saved for a future reprint collection. I remember I originally wrote it quite a while ago when Skipp, Spector, and I had the same agent; John and Craig were doing an "undead" anth, and I thought my idea for Makak would be perfect for it. I didn't know them at the time, but the agent submitted the story on my behalf but, lo, they didn't take it. It was actually titled something else back then, and after the rejection I rewrote it, and started getting offers for it, some even sight unseen. At any rate, it's a decent little piece; I love the limited chapbook of it, and now it's been reprinted, which tickles me pink.

Later!

Edward Lee
