I'm back again, till Feb 1st. Decent trip, I'm happy to say. While I was in MD I was able to write more on Duniwch Romance (it's about 30k words now, I think) and going full tilt. Yesterday, I wrote Wilbur Whateley's first sex scene; he's fallen in love with a backwater prostitute (why are there ALWAYS prostitutes in my books?!) and his, uh, prowess, makes her fall in love with him. He rocks her world, on other words. At any rate, though the Master, Lovecraft, did treat us to a lengthy description of Wilbur's hybrid/para-dimensional physique, he DIDN'T treat us to a lengthy description of his genitals. Edward Lee does. Still don't know when I'll be done but I know it'll be cool. Also, while in MD, I was able to put together a proposal for the 2nd Deadite story collection and the 2nd novella collection. I'll let you all know when I hear back the details and am sure of the contents. Lastly, and just as exuberantly, I just got an offer for a 7-book limited hardcover deal that will take place over the next 3 years. It'll be for two novels and five lengthy novellas, all hardcore fare that's very well outlined. I don't want to jinx things by saying who the publisher is and what the actual projects will be, but I'll confirm when it's a done deal. (Well, I will say that the first project will be Header 3--which will likely be entitled HEADS. It's ready to go, and will be my next project once I'm done with Dunwich. I'm REALLY GEARED UP about this deal! Plus, in between the next three years there'll be, well, Dunwich Romance by Bad Moon, a Header collection (including a new novella) by Camelot, the Tom Moran illustrated collection of Ushers, Shit House, and Stick Woman; and possibly a novella by CD called The Smiling Man which involves the Revolutionary War; and possibly a new novella for Delirium if the time frame works out and my mother's health problems don't throw me off. There may be another project in there too but, jeez, I can't remember! So, I've got some stuff going on, and I couldn't be happier. Nor could I be happier for you all, a wonderful fan base. Thanks so much for your support! I'll be in touch! Best, Edward Lee |

With the onset of "Leisures folly", I was concerned that my life would be lacking in Lee. I guess my worries were unfounded. So happy to see that, not only are you working your ass off, but everything seems to have a home. Thanks for keeping us entertained. ![]() Erik |

I'm much obliged, as always, by your good wishes. I'm off to MD again tomorrow (Feb 1st, looks like I'll just be missing an ice storm) but hope to return Feb 8th, and doubly hope I can report more progress on Dunwich Romance. Over the past few days, I'm happy to say, Wilbur's sex life had gotten VERY interesting--oh, and I just wrote a scene previous to that gave me nauseous nightmares! Very soon, Wilbur will be exacting what I hope to be a brow-raising revenge against the abusive father of his new love. It will be a party, believe me. In between I've also been contemplating more deeply my upcoming sequel to HPL's Colour of of Space, (since the above referenced publisher took an especial interest in it) and am not sure if I should write it as a period piece like Innswich or contemporary like Haunter of the Threshold. Originally I was going to set it shortly after the original story--the late '20s of early '30s--but maybe that would be too monotonous, Now I'm leaning toward contemporary and it occurs to me even more fervently that a perfect main character might be Hazel from Haunter. Hmm. Yes, I think I will. It's a built-in excuse to be as sexually outre as possible! But these are just ruminations, of course; before this sequel I'll be finishing Dunwich Romance, writing Header 3, and probably White House Gothic after that. Plenty of time to think it all out. However,if any of you can suggest a good serious title for this sequel to Colour Out of Space, I'd be much obliged. Got to go now, and pack for the ice storm. Let me bid you all a wonderful week! Best, Edward Lee |

You could always reverse the title. A Space Out of Colour. I like to use a lot of word play when writing lyrics. Anyways, good luck with the Ice Storm. It's supposed to be 28 below with the wind chill for the next 3 days here in frosty Idaho so I feel your pain. Also, congrats on your book deal! |

How about Colourless space, or Colorless Space? Yes, do be careful with the storm. Maryland isn't far from me, and here in Pa., we're getting snow, Ice, sleet, and freezing rain, and freezing drizzle, all with in a 3-4 day period. |

How about "Black Space"? Kind of simple, but black is technically the absence of color. Be careful driving! Massachusetts is predictably in the grips of this horrendous blizzard. This winter is on 'roids, I think. |

Holy Shit, The Colour Out of Space is in my top five Lovecraft stories. It seems while everyone riffs on The Shadow over Innsmouth and The Mountains of Madness, that story is completely ignored. I would love to see you do a modern sequel to it. Here’s some title suggestions (some more serious than others): The Formless Horror Beyond the Sphere of Colour Terror Beyond Vision Death Goo The Technicolor Terror from Beyond the Stars The Psychedelic Slop Satan’s Paint Palette Cthulhu’s Nail Polish Oh Shit! I’m Going Insane and Can’t Quite Describe the Things I am Seeing! If I think of anymore, I'll post them. ![]() |

Thanks, all, very much for your valuable input. I'll take all suggestions to heart. And, yes, Wetbones, Candy Coloured Man Batter out of Space would sell out the butt...but I don't think I quite have the balls to call it that. Later! Edward Lee |
