Did a search, but couldn't find a thread dedicated to this 'un. Just started it today, already about 50 pages deep and really, really enjoying it. More demented madness from Lee! |

I sat down tonight and read 150 pages of FLESH GOTHIC. Its not a page turner in the traditional Laymon sense, but its very compelling in a weird, mysterious way. Its written as a mystery, but a mystery by Ed Lee, so it isn't just a who-dun-it, its full of revenants and demons and rape videos and crack addicted hookers and bizarre religious imagery and stuff that is way too twisted to go into here on a family forum. So, I guess I really like it! Its a 400 pager, I'm on page 300 now, so hopefully the conclusion won't disappoint. I'm definitely very impressed with Lee's talent, he has many different tricks up his sleeve and he can pull you into a story in many different ways. |

I just read this one, also. I really enjoyed it. Great Ed Lee book! I also liked Brian Keene's Urban Gothic, which I believe is an homage to Flesh Gothic. Both great books!! |

This book was the one that introduced me to Edward Lee. I had pretty much exhausted all of the fantasy/sci-fi section, and had worked through bad asses like John Taylor and Harry Dresden who are so bad, they don't have to go into full descriptions of their actions, but I needed that description. I needed something to get the blood pumping, the mind popping, and the jaw dropping. Stumbling around the internet, and the limited horror section of Borders, I had heard about Infernal Angel and City Infernal, but couldn't find any copies. But what they did have was Flesh Gothic. I read the back, and decided to see if I liked the writing style or not, to see if tracking down City Infernal would be worth it. Five pages in, I was knocked for a loop. This was the most graphic, disturbing, and depraved thing I had read, and I wasn't even in double digits yet. Simply amazing. Really made my jaw ![]() I love being able to put his books down, and just go "WTF!" for about a day as my mind processes and wraps itself around everything that transpired. Flesh Gothic was my introduction to Edward Lee, and I'm forever grateful. |

First post. I discovered Lee two years ago and have read seven of his books to date, and Flesh Gothic is my favorite so far (followed closely by Infernal Angel, the first Lee book I read). Awesome premise. *** SPOILER *** The scenes where Adrianne "jaunts" to the Chirice Flaesc are incredible. Anything dealing with demonic forces or actual visions of hell are right up my alley as a horror fan. And the epilogue was perhaps the most satisfying ending to a horror novel I've ever read. Great work Mr. Lee! |

allnumber2: thanks very much for your generous words! I'm glad you dug the book. And if it's demons you're into, there's plenty more coming down the road! Best, Edward Lee |
