I haven't posted in awhile because, I've been dealing with my own personal horror. After a 2 year battle, my woman, lover, and best friend finally succumbed to the ravages of oviarian cancer in Nov of 2009. When faced with such tragedy, one's mind and soul is ripped apart at the seams. I wouldn't ever wish such pain on anyone. There were times that I wish I was taken as well, just so I could once again be with her. They say time heals all wounds, but the scars remain the same, forever. I'm nearly at the point of acceptance, but it's hard. I miss her with every breath I take. I'm sorry to have laid this burden on everyone, but to keep it bottled up is not healthy. There it is. Take as you will. |

My condolences. There is no pain greater than losing a loved one. Try to focus on making her proud by being a good person. She would want you to be happy. |

Thank you for your kind words, Fizzmaster. I know that you are correct, but it is difficult to say the least. At least, I have Lee's books to provide me a much needed escape from reality. As long he keeps writing, I'll keep reading and eventually the pieces shall be put back together. |

Thank you for your very kind words of condolences, I really appreciate it. You are, by far, a most gracious author. You obviously don't suffer any of the ego trappings that others in your position would normally have. It is my honor to be a fan of your work. Again, I thank you. |

I've been skipping around this post for a bit now but, I finally realized that I don't have to write some elaborate sad response to try to ease your pain so... I just wish to say that I am terribly saddened for your loved ones loss and hope that you will only build yourself up strongly once again and help heal that heart with time. My thoughts and prays go out to you! |

Havester, and to all, for that matter, I'm thankful for the heartfelt condolences. I just felt that I needed to share at that point. Wallowing in self pity won't do me any good and it does help to get it out. Share the pain, if you will. I will be okay in the long run, for if anything, I'll still have my memories of her. Allow me to share one of them with everyone. I had discovered Edward Lee and gave her one of his books to read. She knew I was into horror (as she was...to a point). She liked it, but thought it just a tad too extreme for her tastes. I believe it was Backwoods or Messingers (the actual piece eludes me). But knowing what a fan of Lee's work I was, she was just as excited as I was when I showed her that he responded to one of my posts. But, when The Golem came out and I showed her that my screen-name was in the acknowledgements, she was thrilled. Hell, she was telling all her girlfriends at work all about it. That's the kind of person that she was. Always giving and thinking of others before her own well being. Her name was Melissa Servidas and she was 44. I loved her very much and always will. My she forever Rest In Peace. |
