So funny that there is a topic about Ghouls, because I was going to start one because I had just finished reading this novel, and wanted to give my review. While not my favorite Lee novel, it was a good read and worth picking up. Even back then, Lee got a little hardcore with the violence. Keep in mind though, this was what he calls "His first novel", even though he put out the Straker novels previously. Ghouls is totally different in style, format, and formula than those two books (See previous posts of mine on my thoughts on the Straker novels.) Now, I'm kinda undecided on what to read. I guess I'll just grab one from my rather large TBR pile, and get cracking. |

And if I recall correctly, the PB version of Ghouls was the only version. I don't think that it saw a re-release yet. I think there was supposed to be one, but it didn't happen. |

Ultimately I think Ghouls is an okay book, expecially considering it was my first "Ed Lee" book in earnest. Yeah, it's got plenty of problems (the Straker books are another matter, however!) Ghouls I think of as one of my uglier kids! Edward Lee |

Starting this one today. The prologue is cool, written by an Army guy, for sure! |

I can say that Sanders is, in part, based on a real guy I knew in Germany when I was in the Army. I know that book is a bit overwritten in parts but I hope that the action, intrique, etc, make up for it! Thanks for picking it up! Edward Lee |

Will Ghouls be reissued in hardcover a la the earlier titles Necro did and now MHB Press is doing? |

Just finished this one, I really liked it! Sure, its not quite as polished as some of Lee's later stuff, but its a damn good read just the same. I like the way the reader is kept mostly in the dark for the majority of the novel, its written like a mystery. Then slowly but surely the truth of what is going on in Tylersville comes to the light and the last 80 or so pages are nonstop action. Its not as chock-full of gore as some of Lee's later stuff as well, but the scenes that are extremely violent really stand out. Great job, Lee. Thanks for another awesome read. |

Yeah know, I liked Ghouls too. And after Sacrifice is released from MHB Press in hardcover that just leaves Ghouls. I would love to see MHB do it or even Altar 13 since they're doing exclusively re-issues. Well, bottom line is I don't care who does it just as long as it eventually gets the hardcover treatment. |
