first off i would like to say that i'm really excited to be a part of this forum now...and just like many of you can boast...i can aslo say that i am a huge edward lee fan...my favorite author was hubert selby jr. who wrote last exit to brooklyn, requiem for a dream, and so on...i even did my senior research paper on his works and writing styles in general...it was one day that i just so happened to be out of reading material and asked a friend if he could loan me a book (and i don't usually do this because i'm pretty perticular about which author i read)...he asked what i like in a book and of course being a huge selby reader i informed him that i'm into the "off the wall" kind of stuff but havn't really come across anything more off the wall than selby's the room...and this is about the time that he hands me lee's the pig and the house...lee had me at "shake-a-puddin"...needless to say...this is why i mentioned earlier that selby WAS my favorite author...selby was quite quickly cast aside into the unwanted pile...i instantly fell in love with lee's work and of course had to get my hands on more...i pride myself on a personal record of reading three lee books in one day...of course these books were the infernal series...it's been a couple years since i discovered lee and have since opened my mind to authors in the horror field i would have never known about had it not been for lee's work...well that about concludes my introduction and i'd like to say thank you guys for giving me this time to yak on about myself and am looking forward to talking to all of you...and i'd like to personally thank edward lee for digging deep into the grousome crevices of his mind and being able to produce such amazing work for my enjoyment... thanks, calvin |

Hey Calvin! Welcome aboard man. You should give your friend a pat on the back. To start someone off with The Pig is an honorable thing. Look forward to talking Lee books with you. If you get the Tattoo done though, you have to post a picture. As long as it is in an appropriate spot. |

Calvin: wow, Last Exit was one of my favorite books as well. It's an honor to be mentioned in the same post with Selby. Thanks very much for your generous words regarding my work. It's stuff like that which makes my job so outstanding. If it's off-the-wall fiction you like, I think I can say with confidence that you'll dig my latest and upcoming work. Thanks again! Edward Lee |

Mypaperpast: Ed has a Wealth of material, with some easier to find than others. Although I've loved some of his works more than others, I have yet to read anything bad by the guy. Plus, he's very personable on the board. He even acknowledges his fans in his books, which most authors don't even do. |

Welcome! I'm new here, too, so I hope its okay to take the floor for a second and introduce myself... I have always been a huge horror fan. I started reading Stephen King when I was 10 years old. Beyond King I never really got into too much horror fiction. That is until the cover art for THE CONQUEROR WORMS by Brian Keene caught my eye while walking around my local Borders in the summer of 2006. I fell in love with Keene's work, and it lead me to gettting into Richard Laymon, Jack Ketchum, Skipp and Spector and more. In the summer of 06 I picked up THE BACKWOODS by Lee and I just wasn't into the book. Fast forward to this past winter. I forgot the book I was reading at home when I went to the laundromat. I stopped at my local library and noticed MESSENGER in the paperback section. I read the first page and liked what I saw. I took the book the laundromat and couldn't take my eyes from the book. Read 80 pages right then and there. And a new, awesome, prolific author was introduced to me. Since then I've started collecting his stuff and I look forward to attempting to keep up with Lee as he keeps publishing at a vicious rate! |

Welcome one an all. As was above mentioned by peteboiler, I think you'll find everyone on this site to be most friendly and helpful -and that's one of the reasons I post here; not to mention Ed's pretty cool too- ![]() Well enjoy and keep buying Lee's works cause, I can almost guarantee they will be most memorable. |

Everything everyone has said is very true. It has been my experience that those that post on this forum are more that just "fans", but more like family. |
