This is for Lee...he and I mentioned DIO a few times and just wanted him to know the latest...in case he hadn't heard. Iknew it was coming but still devastating to me...guy was m God. |

I only met Dio once and it was very brief but he was super nice. It was March 1st 2001. It was my youngest daughters 5th birthday and I wanted to do something special for her birthday. As it lucked out, Dio was playing a club in Pocatello on March 1st on his Magica tour. Heavy Duty ear plugs in hand we went to the show. Being only 5, LaShae didn't make it through the whole show so I drove her home and came back in time to hear the classic hits. My own band had played this club twice so I was friends with the local roadies and they took me and my greatest hits cd back to his tiny dressing room and as he was coming out to get on the bus the roadie handed him my cd to get it signed for my daughter. The roadie pointed at me and Dio moved slipped through the various entourage and crew milling about, said hello and that my daughter had a very beautiful name. He misspelled her name but I didn't care or point it out. He didn't have to talk to me or acknowledge me but he did anyways. The whole exchange lasted less than a minute but I will never forget it! What a classy, great man! RIP Ronnie! |

Indeed, it the news kicked me in the chops. What a GREAT singer. I remember seeing Dio with Blackmore's Rainbow in the 70's--a memorably event. May he rest in peace. |
