I need some recommedations for my next Ed Lee books to buy. I seem to be running out. I have read: Minotauress/Horncranker - Loved them both. The Pig/The House - Loved them both Bighead - Loved it Creekers - Half way through and loving it. Selfishly disapointed in one aspect, spoiler below.* Also a few leisure books but it is the funny redneck stuff in the above masterpieces I like. Only such book I was disapointed in was Goon. Was too short and seemed that Ed just added a few sections of gross comedy to a mediocre short story. Sorry Ed. Also read Teratologist which I enjoyed excepting the mistakes. Dare say I will buy going Monstering soon. Can't resist. I wouldn't pay $50+ for any other writer. *Thought I was in for another Balls and Dicky ride under different names with Scott and Gut, only for Scott to get killed early. Hope Balls and Dicky can return some day. Another soiler in case folks have not read Bighead. Only bit that I didn't like was Balls turning out to be a demon. Thought he was much scarier as just a comple cunt of a human. |

If you like Lee's redneck stuff, I'd suggest Family Tradition. |

Grab Ghast! It's one of his best in my opinion. Also, Incubi, Succubi, Creekers and Coven. And of course, if you can find them, Header, EverNat and Splatterspunk: The Micah Hays Stories. There's tons more of small press chapbooks and novellas too. Check out the list on this board. Going Monstering is worth the $60.00 (after shipping costs). It will be a collectors item. Enjoy! |

Oops! You're already reading Creekers. My bad. I forgot The Chosen though. Excellent book. |

Ever Nat. But seriously, I have NEVER read anything by Lee and I didn't really enjoy. One of very few authors I can say that about. |

I agree with Jonah. Hell, I even enjoyed the Straker novels. Although I did find some of his stories to be alright, they were still miles above what I've read by other authors. I've yet to read anything by Lee that I absolutely hated or found a waste of time to read. I look forward to getting his next few releases, especially the chapbook and short story comps. |

An overlooked book I seriously enjoy is SLITHER. Written in the redneck vein of the other stuff you like. COVEN is the book that really made me a fan. Great stuff. PORTRAIT OF THE PSYCHOPATH AS A YOUNG WOMAN is not like the redneck stuff. Another A++ read. |

JPOKELA hit the nail on the head so to speak, bringing up Portrait of the Psychopath as a Young Woman. Sure it's one of Ed's "non redneck books" and that makes me wonder if perhaps they were overlooked. Portrait and Dahmers Not Dead are his most serious books but also have the trademark black humor throughout them. If Ed had some gigantic PR machine and maybe had written those under a pseudonym, they would have sold a billion copies. Don't get me wrong. I love the wacky, over the top gross stuff but Ed is a seriously great writer who just happens to be sick in the head in a good way. Thankfully, for us hardcore fans, he is a multifarious mofo. I'm not ass kissing. I tell it like I read it. Any of you guys that haven't read his two collaborations with Elizabeth Steffen should promptly do so. |

You ain't KIDDING a pen name should'vebeen used. Tor originally asked for Dahmer based on an outline sent in only 2 months after the real Dahmer was killed in prison. So we finished the book in double-quick time, sent it in...and never heaqrd from them again! Ah, the wonder world of publishing! Edward Lee |

Creekers was pretty great. Think I will delve into Incubbi, Succubi and Coven next. |

Thanks, John. I hope you dig Inc, Suc, and Coven. Don't know if I ever mentioned it on the board, but Coven actually sold to a publisher in Greece. Cool. Have a good one! Edward Lee |
