So, against Ed's wishes, I FINALLY decided to crack this one open and give it a shot. Although I've had it and Night Lust for sometime, I never read them. For those who don't know, Ed despises these books. He said they're "How Not to write a novel", "50 dollar window jambs", etc. and it was because of these opinions that I finally cracked it open. So,is Night Bait as bad as what Ed says? In my opinion, No. Actually, I've read alot worse. Is the book flawed? Yes. While I would recommend any long time Edward Lee fan to give it a spin, I would keep it far from any newbies. The premise is simple-A killer stalks the streets of Washington,Dc. He picks up hookers and kills them by means of electrocution and then after he kills them, he rapes them. (Sounds so much like Ed, doesn't it?) If Ed were to re-write this and make it more hardcore, I think it would go over well. But, because it's his first novel and he has a hatred for it, it will remain an oddity in his career. (My apologies to you Ed, for writing this, but I'm sure there are some people that wonder how this book actually is, and would like an unbiased opinion on it.) Next up-Night Lust. |

The only GOOD thing abuot Nightbait is that in wriiting a lousy novel, I did learn from my mistakes, and also in Nightlust which is simply my try at a supernatural slasher. Hope you didn't pay too much for them! (At one time Nighbait was going for $125!) But thanks for checking them out! Best, Edward Lee |

Hey Ed. Actually, I got them both reasonably cheap, but nowhere near the 125 dollar range. I'm about a third of the way through Nightlust. I'll save my opinions until I read it all the way through. Just wondering though-Was it your idea or the book company's idea to use an alias for these two novels? |
