Hey Ed, (or anyone else "in the loop") is there any difference between the Leisure and Hardcover? Already pre-ordered the leisure through Amazon, (hoping to have it any day now, since Amazon gets Leisure ahead of the release date for some reason) I hope this isn't another case where the pb hits streets before HC like House Infernal. Bad for sales I would think. Can anyone imagine if you were expected to rush to the local Triplex, at $9.50, plus popcorn, sodas, etc. etc. to watch a movie you bought on DVD a month or two prior? Anyways, you the man and I will continue to try to buy everything I can to support you (cash flow matching timing always a deciding factor) but it seems like your HC's SHOULD come out months before pb, same as any respectable author (am I insulting you by calling you "respectable"). By the way, how's the Gast rewrite for Leisure. Damn, I love that book! Up there with The BigHead and Pig if you ask me!

Golem and Golemesque are 100-percent identical texts, but I agree, it is a kick in the ass for customers when they pre-order a h/c because it's supposed to come out before the pb but then that doesn't happen. I'm afriad I'm to blame, however, for the late release of Golemesque (I inadvertantly gave the hc publisher the WRONG release date for the pb. My apologies!) Other late hc-releases, such as Brides of the Impaler, are regrettable glitches due to many things that are often unmalleable. For these, I, too, apologize. However, I'm very happy with Golem/Golemesque, and hope you are too. It was a blast to write.

Thanks very much for your support!

Wait a second, the hardcover actually uses the original and much better title GOLEMESQUE? If so, that alone is worth the additional $45 or whatever. I loved that title the first time I read it and I was quite annoyed when I heard that it was changed to the utterly boring THE GOLEM.

I agree Webtones. Golemesque is a GREAT title. So is there still going to be a HC of Brides of the Impaler?

Post subject:  Re: Golemesque or The Golem?

Yeah! This is the first anyone has ever heard of a HC for BRIDES OF THE IMPALER. It is the only recent title that does not appear in HC. It only makes sense.........
Dave Barnett is trying to get GHOULS out this year.
That would leave two early paperback originals left to republish in hardcover. THE CHOSEN and SACRIFICE (published under the name Richard Kinion). Both kick ass stories.
So....BRIDES OF THE IMPALER.........Hmmmmmmm. Using my super guessing powers........Cemetery Dance?
And GOING MONSTERING. Got a publisher yet?
HEADER II. I first thought that Shane Staley and Larry Roberts would be smart to try and get this at Infernal House but secondary thinking tells me their 200 copy limit couldn't handle this explosive title.
So, Necro, Bloodletting Press, Delirium (would have to increase his 150 HC limit like he does for Keene.) Then there is a buncha wannabees lookin for a rep love to get this one.

On another topic Shocklines just sold a copy of GAST on eBay for 80 bux or so. His description said "long out of print". Copies at $45 cover price are still available from Camelot!!

Post subject:  Re: Golemesque or The Golem?

Yes, Cemetery Dance is doing the BRIDES hc. The holdup is regrettable. The folks at CD are cool and they're great friends; I guess something unforeseen glitched the hc release. Now I'm told May or June, and I think they're hoping to release INNSWICH HORROR in June as well. GOING MONSTERING, a 50,000 word novel, just got contracted by Bloodletting, but I don't know the release date yet (I'm hoping it won't be too soon 'cos then too much of my stuff would be out at the same time--not a good thing in a recession! But I'll add that MONSTERING may be the funniest black comedy I've ever written. It's abouta group of ugly-duckling type girls trying to get into a high-brow sorority and they find out that their initiations are...quite grueling. I could be wrong but my Lovecraft pastiche, TROLEY 1852, might be out in May. I like it A LOT. As for HEADER 2, I'm fairly sure NEcro will be doing it unless some outlaandish offer comes along from someone else. I'm a third of the way done now, and it rocks. I spend half my writing time disgusted and ashamed, and the other half laughing till I got tears in my eyes! But keep in mind, it probably won't be out till early of mid-2010. (Let's hopethere's still some moodicm of an intact economy by then...) And, yes, there will be hc's and trade paperbacks of THE CHOSEN and SACRIFICE way on down the road. (I lke SACRIFICE a lot, THE CHOSEN, not so much.) I'll be out of town for a few days or up to a week, but I'll be back on the board then. Thanks, as always for your support! (And have a great St. PAt's Day!)

Best,
Edward Lee

Hi, Ed.

I'm liking The Golem so far, and I think the covert art is kick-ass.

My favorite book of yours so far is, Flesh Gothic. That was a great book. Thanks for writing that one, man.

horrordude: thanks much for the kind words on Flesh Gothic. I recall writing 90 percent of it in 2 and a half months, all in a joyous fugue state. Hope you dig Golem--I like it a lot. As a matter of fact, I just got my contributor copies of the pb today.

Take care, and thanks again!

Just picked up my copy today at work....and I have to say, this is one of my BEST covers yet, Ed. I'm going to start reading this bad-boy as soon as I'm done with the Laymon book I'm two-thirds through...

Thanks for picking it up, Chris. I hope you dig it. Yeah, the cover is cool--I always do well with Leisure covers. (They're working on the Black Train cover now--can't WAIT to see that.)

Hope all's well!

Edward Lee

PS--I'm oofficially at the halfway point of HEADER 2. It's...pretty hardcore...

Post subject:  Re: Golemesque or The Golem?

I decided to wait for the Necro hardcover to come out to read this one. It is just so much nicer to read a HC. Of course I will have to get a HC of BRIDES OF THE IMPALER when CD puts it out.
Is the final title going to be HEADER II? I was thinking this was your working title. It is hard to beat. Power tools are such a boon to mankind. And the advances in medical science as evidenced in McGrath Model etc...........Heartening. Totally heartening.
The story is pretty hardcore, huh? If you are shaming yourself when you aren't busy falling on the floor laughing you must be on the right track!

Ed,

I bought my copy a few days ago, but started The Golem last night. 75 pages into this and I'm loving it, man!

On a sidenote, there's a website that's kinda like Myspace for book lovers called GoodReads.com, and there's a whole horror fiction community there, even one for the Leisure Horror fiction line. I started a thread topic on The Golem.

Gotta get back to this book... :v

I was getting The Golem on Sunday, but I couldn't wait. None of the stores had it around here, so I drove over 50 miles for my copy. I bought it, Dark Hollow by Brian Keene, and a book on Harry Houdini. I'm almost finished with "The Long Last Call" (Actually, I'm halfway through the second story in it, "Conscience"), and then it's onto Golem. Can't wait to tear into it.
