Which one should I get next, and why? Eventually, I plan on getting them all, but I can only afford one right now. So, which should I get? |

MINOTAURESS should definitely be read after you've finished THE BIGHEAD. There are numerous references you'll only get if you're already familiar with THE BIGHEAD and MINOTAURESS also gives away the ending of THE BIGHEAD. GAST, however, can be read without such worries. I liked all three books with the reservation that I felt the gore in BIGHEAD got a bit repetitive at times. A few too many interchangeable scenes of girls getting their cervixes fucked out and brains eaten, if you know what I mean. |

Wetbones: yes, I must confess to some lack of discipline on occasion. Far, far too many trans-vaginal eviserations in my books! I hope it's not just wishful thinking, but I think the shenanigans in upcoming works are more diverse! If I had to name favorite of between Gast, Minotauress, and Bighead, I think it'd be Minotauress, especially due to characters from others project dropping in as well as my getting away with "English major" indulgences. Plotwise, I really like Gast. I've probably mentioned this before, but one day I'll do a pseudo-sequel to Minotauress which, uh, won't have a minotauress in it. In this one, a descendant of the cryptic corpse-collector and occultist "St. John" from Lovecraft's "The Hound" will purchase the Crafter House to mine more of its phantasmal secrets. Plus, smut and gore. Later! Edward Lee |

While I loved all three, if I had to choose one, or recommend one, I would go with Gast. Great book! |

That's a tough choice. I love all three. But I think I would go with Gast then the Bighdead and then finish it off with The Minotauress. I really don't think I could pick a favorite out of those 3. They're all so damn good. |

I've read Gast and The Bighead and I loved them both more than a Rod Serling monologue at its best. I'd recommend you start with The Bighead. It's got one of my favorite Lee endings and one of my favorite Lee characters: the troubled priest, Alexander. I'm kind of drunk right now so my judgement may be impaired but I say start with The Bighead. Gast was really good, too...so you can't really go wrong. Maybe just flip a coin and enjoy! Speaking of Gast...have you come up with a new title for the leisure edition, Ed? Also, I'm saving my pennies so I can buy Minatouress. And what about Goon? I've often wondered who would win in a Fight Club meeting between The Bighead and Goon! ![]() |

I would like to thank you all for your suggestions and opinions. I have decided to go ahead and order Gast. Moreso for the reason that it is going to be released, albeit in a different form under the title of The Black Train, and I wasn't sure how much longer the original would be offered,so I got it. Also, I wanted to read the original version, so I could see what was taken out, and what was added, as well as which version I liked better. I'm also going to go with the suggestions of getting The Bighead, and then The Minotauress. In the meantime, while I'm waiting for Gast to arrive, I think I'll dive into one of Ed's earlier novels (I have all of the original paperbacks, including the Straker novels.) |

Thanks Harvester, but yes, I was aware of the other version of The Bighead. The problem is that the other version is so hard to find, and when you do find it, it's quite costly. I'll stick with the more common version. Ed, thanks for the heads up about The Minotauress being available now in pb. I'll look for it if I can't find a hardback at a fair price. Also, about the Straker novels: We all had to start somewhere, and that is your beginning. Dean Koontz says something similar about his earlier and out of print novels: " Collect them, but DON'T read them." ![]() |

Yeah Ed. Don't sell yourself short. Your fan base is more then happy to read your older material! Everyone starts somewhere. It's a great chance to witness your progression to that of a legendary author of the extreme!! I've loved every step of the way thus far. |

I read and liked all three but THE BIGHEAD will always have a special place in my heart. The ending is one of my favorites. and I've tempted to hunt down the first two Edward Lee books despite what he says ![]() SQUID PULP BLUES - bizarro / crime / horror Available now from ERASERHEAD PRESS http://www.eraserheadpress.com |

So, Gast arrived today, and I had to dive right in. I'm about 100 pages in, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Based on some of the scenes that I've read so far, I can understand now why this has to be toned down and cut. Plus, I'm sure that some of the stuff was omitted to make it more "Politically correct". Doesn't bother me though. Now, back to the book. |

lthrby1 : yes, it's toned down but not really that much now that I look at it. What the revision did was distill the book down to the story, which I like a lot--it's delightfully OCCULT. Thanks for picking the hc up. Edward Lee |

Finished Gast in 4 days time, reading about 115 pages a night. Really enjoyed the book, and the hardcore scenes didn't bother me at all.Good story actually. With the way it ended, was/is there a sequel in mind? Next on my get list will be Bighead. Can't wait to read that one. |
