Hey, Ed! Any chance we''ll ever see any more GRUB GIRL stuff? Loved the stories and I have all the Verotik GG stuff, but I would really love to hear from her again. Maybe a shared universe kinda deal similar to INFERNALLY YOURS? Also, based on your articles in Asian Cult Cinema. I am about to embark on a viewing of GIRLS REBEL FORCE OF COMPETITIVE SWIMMERS and SCHOOL OF THE HOLY BEAST. Looks like awesome stuff! Looking forward to GOLEM and all the new material. You just don't write fast enough.... ;)

Ed, if you'll watch only one Asian film in 2009 make it TOKYO GORE POLICE! It has Eihi Shiina from AUDITION as a badass future policewoman who butchers the fuck out of really weird S&M mutants. It's also the bloodiest Japanese film since ICHI THE KILLER, easily.

The DVD officially comes out on January 13th but it's been in stores for a while now already.

Wetbones: I am *really* looking forward to TGP. I read about it online ...I don't know, maybe 6 months ago, and I've been going nuts wanting to see it since then. I probably coulda picked up a bootleg, but I think I'll be glad I waited for the official release with all the bells n' whistles. How does it stack up next to THE MACHINE GIRL? I thought MG was awesome!

Ed: Looking forward to CRUEL RESTAURANT. If I'm not mistaken, that's by the director of GIRLS REBEL FORCE, right? Love that crazy Japanese exploitation!!

There are no bells or whistles on the TGP DVD. It's just the movie and the trailer though I'm sure a stacked special edition will be released in a year or two. Personally, I enjoyed TGP a lot more than MACHINE GIRL. MACHINE GIRL had maybe 5 minutes of over-the-top insanity and 85 minutes of standard drama. TGP is 100 minutes of non-stop gory and perverted (amputee blowjob, anyone?) madness.

With a name like Tokyo Gore Police? I'll HAVE to get it! And, yes, Creul Restaurant was directed by the same guy who did Girls Rebel Force. The movie's a hoot!

The review for SCHOOL OF THE HOLY BEAST can be found at asiancult.com. Just type Edward Lee in the search box and look up issue#50. The GIRLS REBEL FORCE is only in the magazine itself(#59, I think). I'm guessing the CRUEL RESTAURANT review will be in an upcoming issue. Cool mag, if you're into Asian stuff, like me! Hope this helped!
