Hi there, i have read this forum for awhile but never posted. Anyhow just wanted to let those of you who don't already know that horror mall has a few copies of this up for preorder.... I am so excited, didn't think I would ever get my hands on this. |

I WISH like hell that I had the money for it. I would snatch it up in a heartbeat but alas...I'm a poor Wal Mart employee so it's a no go for now. Wasn't it said that it would eventually be released in a more affordable means later on down the road? |

I actually did a quick search before i bought it and i did not find anything saying either way.... but even if I wasn't a fan (which I am) I can think of it as an investment ![]() ![]() |

Ed did mention that there will be an affordable paperback release sometime down the road and I don't doubt that will be the case. The question is just when that release will happen and if it will be the whole novel without any changes to soften it up for a wider market รก la GAST. I'm hoping for the best since $175 is not something I can justify paying for a book that's not at least 175 years old, no matter how big a fan I am. |

I was super happy to get a copy of this also on order at Horror Mall. I couldn't justify buying a Keene I didn't really want just to be able to reserve a # for Edward Lee's Haunter. So when HM announced a few people gave up on the Lee I was happy to jump. It got so bad b4 HM's announcement I was watching those Keene auctions on EBAY and HM auction site gritting my teeth and somehow holding off. At least 5 copies are still available at HM. It is never wise to assume things will go up in value as time goes on. I don't think the last couple Keene auctions have moved much past cover price. I have debated getting a second or third copy for speculative purposes but have held off. Somebody else might make that work. Edward sez it is as extreme as it gets. Larry Roberts is suitably disgusted. We will see what we will see...... Hey Mr. Lee. Need another proofreader? On at least two occasions I have pointed out discrepancies to you that made it past other eyes!! Just trying to help here!! |

I ended up grabbing a copy from Horror Mall as well. I have to take out a $200 loan to cover it but oh well. It'll be well worth it in the long run. This is by far the most I have ever spent on a book. On for Edward Lee though. |

Folks: please know that I'm unaccountably grateful to those of you who've laid out this big money for HAUNTER, especially in these hard times. As for anyone who bought the $175 edition or the $1200 deluxe, I CAN promise this: you're getting 90,000 words of Edward Lee's very best effort at a Lovecraft sequel. I'd feel horrible if someone bought it and hated it, but I will say that I'm fairly sure fans of my work in general will like it a lot. Not only is it obscenely sexual and scatologically grotesque, I think the characterization is dead-on, and the plotline as solid as a cinderblock wall. Thanks! Edward Lee |

Also, for me the most I have ever spent on a book... though I spend $150 on a copy of Header that never actually made it to me once. |

Baba and Serra perhaps you made a wise choice. The copy of Infernal House #1 Keene has made a big move off cover price. This is about the fourth or fifth copy I have seen on EBAY or Horror Mall auctions. It has 4 days to go in the auction and it is at $245. Maybe I will have to rethink buying a resell copy. I have no clue what layaway at HM means but they do offer that option. |

serra: di you mean that you'd once paid 150 bucks for a copy of HEADER but never recieved it? If so, I'd be interested in knowing the seller, if you'd care to relate that info. I HATE it when stuff like this happens! Best, Edward Lee |

I will say that being one who was lucky enough to get in on Infernal House at the beginning, I find it worth the money. Darkness on the Edge of Town was beautifully made. I think it adds to the story plus looks awesome on the shelf. Well done to whoever gets the final three!! -jonah |

Hi. Yeah, I never recieved it. I bought it through biblio.com and the seller said that they provided him with the wrong address (and they did) though if the seller had not sent it standard shipping (when I paid for upgraded) I might have at least been able to track it. The whole thing was a mess. The really sad thing is I found another copy on Ebay, I paid for it over a week ago and have not gotten anything except my receipt from paypal, no confirmation of payment recieved or shipping from the seller, maybe it just was not meant to happen for me ![]() |

Serra: wow, very sorry to hear about the screw-job. I can say that HEADER will be reprinted sometime in the future after the DVD is released (not sure who will do it yet) and will include the novella plus the script and photo stills from the flick. And when I finally write the sequel, it will be very reliably available from NEcro. But thanks for your support! Best, Edward Lee |

The 174 copies of the signed/limited are spoken for. Although some of those are on lay-away and might come up for sale pre-release date. Of the 26 deluxe 10 copies are still available at $1200 or so. As far as I know Brian Keene sold out his 26 deluxe. Are us Lee fans a bunch of slackers? Keene writes 15 or 20 books a year and can still sell em out. How he manages to do this and still blog and haunt every message board including Rachael Rays is beyond me. He must have zombie clones on krak do the heavy pulling. He is that kind of guy you know. He keeps this pace up he will burn out in 20 years . Just watch. So, Lee fans. It's just $1200 bucks. Or get two copies! A spare for the kids! |

Man, 1 copy of the lettered edition would get pretty colse to paying off my credit card. I can't imagine anyone paying that much for a book. And Brian Keene...well damn, that man keeps on top of his stuff. And he can do no bad. I'm in awe of how much he does. Can't wait for Castaways. |

Yeah that Keene writes a bunch. But he just doesn't hit the right keys on the keyboard for me. I am probably too picky when it comes to my reading likes and dis-likes. His THE NEW FEAR was the only thing he has put out that made me say "This is cool". A Necro author named Mehitobel Wilson was asked why she quit reviewing horror books. Her answer was that she had to read 30 books to find one she liked. Wasn't willing to trudge through that anymore. I am not quite that picky. But close. With horror books I pick up three or four for every one I read all the way through. Mr. Edward Lee has yet to have a book put in that cast-off pile of mine. But I must say I was very happy to read SLITHER. That book signaled to me that things were looking up! With HAUNTERotT, GHOUL hardcover, GOLEM and possible HC, Necro's new INFERNAL collection with a Charlee Jacob story, and more Leisure pbos 2009 looks to be another Edward Lee banner year. Now if he could just crack that Japanese market. They would just go crazy over this stuff. Just crazy. Now if I had a proof copy of HAUNTER I could get this post of mine back on topic........ |

Knock on wood, I recently got a foreign agent who's trying to get more of my stuff abroad and, yes, Japan would be ideal. Listen... That's me knocking on wood! Later! Edward Lee PS--and to any of you who've laid out the huge money for either edition of Haunter, you have my undying gratitude. I put everything I had into that novel; I hope you all dig it. |

Jeez. I have three copies of this coming! A couple weeks ago an online friend got ahold of me and asked if I wanted to buy his copy at cover price pre-shipping. I told him what happened with the Keene title's price right after publication. He said, well, whatever, I want to sell it now. So now I will have three. I am holding the line at two Trolleys. That's it. Two Trolleys. No more. Unless an attractive eBay auction comes along......... I have no clue how many SPLATTERSPUNKs and HEADERs and MAKAKs and Necro THE BIGHEADs have passed through my hands. Bunches. I am pretty sure I had 5 MAKAKS at one time. It drives me crazier knowing there are at least 5 hardcover MAKAKs out there and I don't have one. I have many copies of SLITHER and THE MINOTAURESS hardcover. These are two great books. Their time will come, my pretty, their time will come....... HAUNTER OF THE THRESHOLD. I am ready for this. I been so bored lately. I picked two older books off the shelf to reread. Better than new garbage. So just now I am into Tom Piccirilli's short story collection MEAN SHEEP and COVEN by this Ed Lee guy. |

I really dropped the ball on this release. I didn't notice it was coming out and didn't get to pre-order it. Some of the Lettered editions are left, but I can't afford it right now. ![]() |

I received this in the mail today thanks to Priority Mail. I seriously am absolutely amazed at the presentation of this book. It looks better then many of the lettered editions on my shelves. I can't wait to read it again. The artwork is fantastic as well. Congrats to Ed for the great story and everyone else involved for the amazing quality of the book. Well done. |
