Ed, I was reminiscing this past week about one of my early favorites as a young reader, Robert E. Howard. Not a big fantasy reader at all--and believe it or not I've never read Tolkien, much to my wife's dismay--I loved Howard's writing style and most specifically his famous barbarian hero, Conan. I was curious if you were a fan as well. Obviously, being a fan of HPL and the fact that they were close friends "back in the day" I thought maybe you would be. They certainly didn't really mirror each other's stories (I admire HPL's work, but admittedly haven't read a lot) but I am not an expert on both either, although I came across a book by REH where he writes about or makes reference to HPL's Cthuthlu mythos. By the way, I am reading House Infernal and it is kick-ass so far, Ed. Look forward to Scarlet Nuns, Golemesque, etc in the future... Have a great weekend... Chris |

Have you read the Conan story "The Tower of the Elephant"? That one definitely has Lovecraftian elements... There is also his Bran Mak Morn story "Worms of the Earth" which does indeed reference Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos. |
