Did anyone else have to pay to join this group? Regardless I read Gast and was disappointed. Not in Lee's writing, but in the blatant false advertising by Camelot Books. Lee has a loyal fanbase and his limited editions sell out quickly. You do not need to lie when trying to sell an Edward Lee title. Why then did they proclaim it to be 'Edward Lee's first hardcore horror novel since The Bighead'? Gast is not hardcore horror. It's a fun novel, but nothing like The Bighead, or Family Tradition, or The Teratologist, or two of my favourites: The Pig and The McCrath Model SS40-C Series S, et al. Lee (I hope you will have time to answer this) What did you think when Camelot used: Edward Lee's first hardcore horror novel since The Bighead as a tagline for the book? ciao MIKHAIL |

I absolutely LOVED this book, this is definitely a must read! I don't think that it's as graphic as The Bighead, but don't get me wrong it is graphic (tubing anyone?). I don't know if it would have worked for this book if it was written in the same style as The Bighead. I actually felt like I was transported back in time with the parts that take place in the Civil War era. This novel tells a really good and interesting story. You did it again Ed, you managed to outdo yourself as usual. I would have to say that GAST goes on my list of favorite books. [/b] |

Fantastic book! It only took the prologue's first sentence to let me know what kind of a ride I was in for, and things never slowed or disappointed. I read it in a matter of hours. Agog and cackling through most of it. But then, I'm kind of weird that way.

I was wondering if someone who has read GAST could tell me what the book is about. The little bit of information I've managed to find about the book, doesn't seem to hint towards the plot in any way. I'm not looking for any kind of spoiler, just a little more description then the vague comments I've found so far. |

Gast is about fetish/demented sex, intrinsic evil during the Civil War--a doozy of a war--pregnant teenagers buried alive, broken love, harrowing deceit, human flesh tilled into cursed soil, "Redneck birth control," erotic/demonic possession, sewing needles, the ghostly stench of urine, sexual mania, straight-razor pubic shaving, very well fed mutts, hand crafted beer, and, well, aquarium tubing. I hope you get a chance to check it out! It may be my favorite novel of mine thus far. Best, Edward Lee |

Thanks, all. GAST was a blast to write, I can tell you. As for my favorite microbrew; I've always been a Sam Admas Lager fan, but that's hardly a micro these days. Ther as one similar, though, called Brooklyn Lager, but I don't know if it's still available. Two fave defunct micros I'll alway remember as Portland Lager and Old Heurich. My all time favorite beers, though, aren't micros but German Maibock beers: Hofbrau, Ayinger, EKU, Tucher which disappeared from US distributors a long time ago. Recently, though, the Hofbrau Maibock popped up in Florida and I drank MANY on my birthday! Later! Edward Lee |
