Alot of people look for Ed Lee recommendations, and it usually seems a good way to start with his Leisure titles. This poll might help them decide which would be best. Not to mention that, heck, it'll be interesting to see the results... |

Flesh Gothic. I'm not too big a fan of Ed's more mainstream work. With the exception ofof a couple of his Leisure books I like his mainstream stuff but it doesnt have the passion in it that his small press stuff does. |

I'm going to have to revisit Flesh Gothic. It, along with the Infernal books, have been Ed's misfires, imho, from Leisure. ![]() I'll need to move it up in the TBR pile... |

Happened upon this old post and decided to add my vote. While it's been a few years since i've read any of these books and they are all good...I chose City Infernal because it was the first book by Lee I ever read. I believe I picked it up right after I got out of the military at a local grocery store. I've been a fan ever since. ~Tony Beals |

City Infernal, hands down. It was the one that started my Ed Lee Obsession, with the Messenger coming in at a close second, followed by Brides. |

The INFERNAL books brought many fans to the Edward Lee fold. The theme is indeed pretty cool. You are in a modern hell, you really can't get out. Deal with it. Updating hell and keeping with the traditional methods of sending people to heaven or hell based on strict rules............well, it just worked for lots of people. Those of us who were loving the small press stuff were waaay puzzled and usually put off by the lack of over the top gore and sex. But these books work. |

I agree...if it wasn't for him going "mainstream" I might never have found out about him. I would have to say-and it's been years since I read it-that Messenger is probly my actual favorite, tho The Black Train-which I just finished-is definetly up there. I have read Teratologist and am reading The Innswich Horror now. Teratologist was some pretty hardcore shit compared to what I normally read. Still i've gotta say I love his work and as soon as I get paid next week, I wanna order another of his small press works. So...any reccomendations?? I wanted to get the Infernally Yours anthology but it was taking too long so I just cancelled it but since Lucifers Lottery is coming out next month I might get that. Any reccomendations would be great tho. ~Tony Beals |

Hey Big T. If you haven't got the collections put out by Deadite Press that would be the place to get your hardcore fix. Go to Amazon, go to books and then click advanced search. Enter Deadite in the publisher field and there will be your choices. I think I will be picking up the Robert Devereaux title. I loved his take on Santa. What was the name of that book? SANTA STEPS OUT. Now that was a cool book. |

BigT: thanks for your interest! Fyi, most of what I cut from Gast was quirky off the wall sex that had to do with Collier's "expanded sexual awareness," while most of the rough horror bits stayed. If it's hardcore, you want, check out Header 2 when you can; also, the upcoming Haunter of the Threshold as a trade pb. I guess that's my hardest core stuff (and I'm quite proud of it!) Thanks for your support! Edward Lee |
