Lost another great writer. If you haven't read him, you're missing out. ![]() |

I've been sitting here on my fat ass since yesterday when I heard the news, numb, agitated, and depressed. I've known Tom since, I think, 1990. I recall first meeting him at one of the HWA cons in NYC. We were stnading outside in the wee hours on this balcony sort of thing atop, I think, the Warwick Hotel, trading horror gossip and appraising the visual attributes of some of horror's female scribes. What great days. He and I outlined a novel we were gonna co-write but we both lost track of it and got contracts for other stuff. I wish so much I could've made that happen. For someone who is fortunate enough to make his living with words, I'm finding an utter failure in choosing the right words to communicate my feelings. Fuck. In world way too populated with bad guys, Tom was one of the good ones: always a giver, never a taker, a writer’s writer and a friend’s friend. Tom’s books live forever, and so does he. His pain in this world is over now. May he rest in peace and may his sleep be sweet. God bless Michelle and all those who grieve. Edward Lee |

Nice story, Lee. I wanted to reach out to you personally, but wanted to respect your own mourning. I didn't know Pic, but all I heard was great things. I just read two of his latest novels this year. An amazing writer, for sure, but it would have been nice to have known him as you did. Sympathies. Bob |

Very sad news. I've been hearing how great of a writer he is forever. I have had "A Choirs of Ill Children" sitting in my to read pile for a while now, I guess this would be a good time to read it. RIP |

We all drank a toast to Tom at the convention; I KNOW he was there in spirit! Best Edward Lee |
