I just checked Brian Keene's page. It's the real deal. I don't know what to say about this. I just bought a personalized copy of Maternal Instinct from him, and he's one of the four most influential authors I have ever read. This is a sad morning for the Horror Genre, and an extreme loss. Heart felt condolences to his family and friends. |

A huge loss to the genre and I can't imagine the pain in his family. He was such a great guy. |

I wasn't a fan of his writing but this still comes as a shock. Fucking cancer! |

I'm still trying to get over the shock of this information. I'd actually swapped some emails with JF recently, and he was his usual enthusiastic happy self. I remember back in the OLD days, I'd correspond with him via snail mail when wrote for the Afraid newsletter and other such places. What a wonderful guy and what a monumental writer. (His novel Survivor was the first book to make me nauseous since Rex Miller's Frenzy!) The genre won't be the same now. My thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family. May he rest in peace. Jesus was a very good friend of mine and he will be missed terribly. It's surreal to think that not only 3 weeks ago I was eating burritos with him and talking about Lovecraft and cannibalism. This whole thing came out of nowhere. |

This is horrible. Survivor was one of the very first hardcore horror novels I read. Parts of that book still disturb me. RIP, thoughts go out to his friends and family. |

I did a review of Survivor on Amazon. Aside from Ed's books, it's one of my fav. Horror novels. I recommend it to anyone when asked for a good book to read. RIP. |

I heard about this last Friday and wanted to post but just couldn't. It's really heartbreaking to see people leave us seemingly much too early. Read the intro of Screaming to Get Out, knowing he is with not with us any more. Try not to cry. I have read almost every thing he published. He wasn't just part of the new wave, he was one of the best authors out there. Not every book held up to his best ones but I always got something out of each and every one of them. RIP. |
