This weekend was the Monster Mania convention in NJ. I've been going to this show for about 8 years now. The dynamics of the show have changed but its always a good time to see cool friends I have made. Anyway on saturday of the con I was sporting my brand new Edward Lee Necro shirt. I was talking to one of my friends at his companies booth (Dire Wit Films check them out they kick ass!) and a vendor at another booth kept staring at my shirt. I didn't notice right away but then finally he called over to me. I figured he was going to say hey kick ass Ed Lee rules but he went on to ask me if I was wearing a shirt of myself. I was like what the fuck? I don't think I look like Edward but when I looked down at the picture again I realized my hair, beard, and glasses were the same way as the drawing of Lee on the shirt. So for the rest of the show my ocd drove me nuts thinking everybody thought I was either this insanely vain person wearing a picture of himself on his shirt, or that I was trying desperately to look like an icon in the horror world. And of course my friend every time we met new people would say "Hey look at my friend wearing a picture of himself on his shirt." Not a very interesting story I realize but it is the only Edward Lee related one I have. The other highlight of the show was doing drunken karaoke to Meat Loafs paradise by the dashboard light on the director of Evil Head's (evil dead porn spoof) bus, while he was dressed as Dr Rockso and about 4 other people were dressed as clowns. Wow! What a great story! Perhaps we're doppelgangers! One time 8ish years ago I was walking on the beach with my ex girlfriend and she said, "Holy shit, did you see that guy who just walked by? He looks just like you!" I missed it cuzI was looking for sharrk's teeth. Anyway, I look over my shoulder and essentially see MYSELF looking back at me. Weird stuff. And Evil Head sounds pretty cool. Evil Head was great! I think you will really enjoy it. They did a great job of making it feel like an Evil Dead movie. Really funny and bloody. |
