Post subject: | BACK TO GOOD OLD MARYLAND |
One of these days I'm going to go back through my Southwest account and see ho many times I've flown to and from Maryland over the last 6 years--I'll bet its a hundred! Anyway, in the morning I have to return to MD yet again for several days to do more probate/lawyer/house stuff. I'll keep a special look out (or I should say ear out!) for the Sighing/Stomach Rumbling Ghost. Plus I gotta pick up some custom made storm windows and somehow install them myself. (Picture that!) I'll have only intermittant internet service but I will touch base with you all while I'm there. Then I return to FL next Tuesday and fly to Vegas on Thursday for Killer Con. For those of you who are going, please know it will be a thrill for me to meet you, and for those who aren't, I wish you could go. As always, thank you all for your support and interest and, especially, for your good wishes, prayers, etc., during my recent travails. Bless you all and take care! Edward Lee |

Good luck with the storm windows. Today I replaced some storm windows on one of our rental houses. They got too close to a thrown brick! 2nd time it has happened to this house. First time it was the cops, trying to distract a guy who locked himself in a bedroom and claimed he had a gun. He didn't have a gun, but he ended up with some impressive bruises! Replaced a kicked-in door jamb that time also. This time it was the renter's mother. I didn't get the whole story, but I think it has something to do with intermittent insanity... |

Do they still have frequent flyer miles? I dunno about any of that as I have never flown anywhere in my life! Good luck in MD and good luck with those windows. See you at Killer Con. Oh yeah, and Ill have a six pack of Diet Coke chilling in the cooler for the ride up to Vegas from So Cal. I'll pass one on to you when I see ya. ![]() |

Good luck on the trip and such, Lee. Hey, wanted to mention this because of the rarity of this occurrence. I was at work the other day (not many know this, but I'm a B&N asst store mgr) and as I was walking by customer service, I overheard a young woman talking to the bookseller about a book she wanted to order. I stopped after I heard the title "Brain Cheese Buffet" and "Edward Lee." Struck up a conversation, of course, and we ended up talking for 20 mins or so, because she was a fan and wanted to order some more of your books. I mentioned a few other titles she wasn't aware of, as well as similar authors she might enjoy, along with this web board, etc. She was very grateful for the rec's and service, and that made my day, meeting another Lee fan... |

Glad to see you back, good sir. If you ever hit the Cincinnati/NKY area, hit me up. Hell, make a road trip and do it anyway! I'm about to meet Jonathan Maberry at his book signing here next week... love to see you next! |

Chris: please give that lady my thanks! And the rest, thanks for the encouraging words. I picked up the storm window and almost left the m-therf-cker in the damned Home Depot parking lot cuz I couldn't get it in the damn car! Had to take it out of the shipping box (quite an ordeal in itself) and finally got it home but not before jettisoning a tirade of irredeemably foul language the likes of which would offend a band of pirates and certainly got me some odd looks from persons in the parking lot. Now the damn window's in the damn garage and--frig it!--I'm not putting it in! Whoever buys the damn house can put it in himself! Frig it, I'll give him the damn money! (Can you tell I'm not much of a Home guy?) I'm a bit, well, sad, to report that after spending two more nights here I haven't yet to notice any phenomena out of the ordinary. No footsteps, no "sighs", not stomach rumbling, now loud single KNOCKS! Nothin'. So I guess I'll semi-quote Roddy McDowell in Hell House and say, "Dr. Barrett, the house is clear!) But things went very well at the lawyer's; it cost half as much as I expected, and many of the hassles I expected were overreactive. I'm coming back to FL Tuesday (cos the ticket was muxch cheaper that Sun or Mon., then getting ready for Vegas, and off I go again! For those of you going to Killer, I CAN'T wait to see you! And for those not, I'll give a full report. Later! Edward Lee |

Hi Ed, I'm bummed to say that I won't be seeing you again this year. But I hope you have a blast. For me I'll just hope that I'll get to go again next year and maybe get a chance to talk to you a bit more than last year. Really feel bad about you having to do all that shit like fix storm windows and stuff on your own. If I were local I'd offer to give you a hand. Or better yet offer my wife to give you a hand as she's probably better at DIY stuff than I'll ever be. All the best and take care. |

See ya there, Konnie! I also agree on the Fifty Shades of Bullcrap lol. It's sad when crappy writing gets rewarded with millions of dollars while all these great horror writers aren't even well known outside of the horror genre circle with the exception of King, and Koontz. |

Have a wonderful time, my Vegas bound Ed-friends! (and to the great man himself). Unfortunately, I wasn't able to swing it this year despite giving it some serious consideration. But one day.......one day... In the mean time, I instructed certain parties to pass on some very enthusiastic greetings to Mr Lee (from me, a humble rodent) and I hope they follow through with it ![]() |
