Animal abuse brings out the worst thoughts in me. The guy may be fond guilty, but the punishment for his crime will probably be very light. I have done a lot of rescue work for cats; the way people some people can treat animals that were family pets is sickening. |

All our pets (2 dogs, 3 cats) are rescued animals. Our Spaniel, Bonnie, was so traumatized from abuse that it took about a year for her to act like a normal happy dog. She still flinches when she sees the broom, mop or other long stick type object. I have nothing but contempt for individuals who would hurt a defenseless animal. |

This really get to me. I dont know how anyone could treat their animals like this. I have 1 dog and a fish. I can't imagin not taking care of them. Its an even bigger shame that the people who do things like this dont get a very harsh punishment. Maybe a fine if your lucky. I think more needs to be done. |

All three of my cats are rescues. The youngest, Emmee, I found on the streets of Newark one day at lunch. Not sure what kind of life she had before I found her but for about a year she wouldn't go near my husband and is still warry around men. She also used to do something weird, whenever I raised my voice, she would jump up on the couch and nip at my chin - she's since stopped that but it was still weird. The other two are shelter kitties. The guy who did that to the dogs should be shot. |

This post made me think about the fact that a lot of close-minded people out there think really stupid thoughts when you mention 'Horror fans' to them. They think we're evil people who get off on torture, killing, and just about anything where hideous acts of cruelty prevail, with not one ounce of anything hopeful. And any time someone posts about cruelty to animals, children or human beings in general, the caring side of 'real' horror fans always shines through. I always get a kick out of that: how to so many people make that scared face when you tell them how you're in to horror novels, movies, or even artwork. Wouldn't that be like saying people who read nothing but romance novels have no sense of real love and only want to screw their brains out? Horror is about a lot of nasty things, sure, but it's also about getting through those things and being strong in the face of a life that constantly tries to beat you down. I'll take a good horror novel over the evening news any day of the week. ![]() |
