OMG my sister in law just called me. She was having trouble with a computer program and asked her boss for help. Her boss lost it and started screaming at her that she was an idiot and frustrating her to death, Came over, wrapped her hands around her neck and started shaking her head back and forth! She said she was totally scared and ran to HR after it happened and they said they would look into it. she is at lunch right now. Should she do anything else? |

Uh, police? Of course, if it had been me, they'd be calling the police for the boss, cuz I'd have killed him. |

I just got off the phone with her. She is scared to call the cops since she works alone in a room with her. I told her she needs to RIGHT now but she is afraid. she is going back into work now. |

She should contact her State Employment Office (or whatever State authority she has) right away and get the assult on record. If there is a parent company involved she should insist that HR report it to them right away. Then she should follow up and call the parent company. It's important that she get the assult on record with authorities. If the supervisor is not disciplined nor any action is taken and it happens again, your sister will have documentation that she reported it once before and that the company was negligent. Your sister must protect herself, not worry about the supervisor. She should have the incident reported and documented to an oversight authority no matter what the outcome of this is. This is very serious, and if she is frightened, all the more reason. Tony |

Call the police ASAP and also call the State Employment Office. It needs to be documented for her protection. If she lets it slide it will happen again. |

I have finally talked her into calling the cops to file a report. She doesn't want her arrested though. So she will be calling me back to let me know what happens. She said she is afraid that the police are going to come to her work and she will be embarrassed. I said the woman should be embarrased for trying to strangle you for god sake. She is going to call right now. So hopefully she will be able to file a report. She is going to call me back after she talks to them. I am afraid she is going to cave and tell them nevermind. I am hoping that once she calls she doesn't have a choice BUT to follow through. You know what I mean. Also I have her writing a letter outlining everything that happened to her to give to her HR department. |
