I haven't published much through the Dark Arts Books imprint since the e-book revolution turned people from BOOK lovers into people who read unadorned (and frequently unedited) manuscripts on their phones. Do you sense a prejudice there? OK, well... I became a publisher because I loved actual hold-in-your-hand books... and I loved book design. But while I readily admit that I'm not terribly interested in being yet another e-book publisher, I AM terribly interested in being Martin Mundt's publisher, because I think he's one of the sharpest, funniest horror authors alive today. And sadly, probably about the least well-known. Last fall I published his third short fiction collection, SYNCHRONIZED SLEEPWALKING, on Dark Arts Books. That followed Dark Arts putting his two previous collections from Delirium and Twilight Tales (DARK UNDERBELLY OF HYMNS and CRAWLING ABATTOIR) back into print. Now of course... people need to discover these books. Because they're BRILLIANT! And... they are available as e-books (but also as trades!) So... this week, not one, but TWO Martin Mundt collections of horror-humor-dark fantasy fiction are available for 99 cents on Kindle Countdown Sales. I LOVE these books and wrote the introductions to both. Please take a minute to check them out -- I promise you won't be disappointed!
