For 3-4 years in a row, I always read Dark Harvest by Norman Partridge during the month of October. Last year broke that streak, as I didn't read any specific Halloween stories. This year, I think I'm going to try The Halloween Man by Douglas Clegg. I've heard mixed things about it, but I've had the book forever, and figured this Halloween is as good a time as any. How about the rest of you? Any specific tales of the season you're hoping to read in October? |

Tons of Bradbury. You can't not read Dark Harvest. Four Octobers by Rick Hautala is a new one this year. And I always read favorite parts of Pet Sematary. |

I'm not sure what I'll be reading yet. Maybe some John Saul, Al Serrentino (or what ever the heck his name is). |

Earthling releases a book a year in their Halloween Series. Last year they were a little late, so i saved Gary McMahon's The Bones Of You for reading this year. I might read this year's offering too if it is released in time- The Halloween Children by Brian James Freeman and Norman Prentiss sounds really good. |

So I guess I'm gonna read Dark Harvest by Norman Partridge, I thought I had a reminder somewhere to read it. I usually try to read something kinda scary for Halloween every year, but I mix it up. I read a different story every year. I'll hit up this Dark Harvest I see mentioned in this thread so much. I'm almost done with Sideshow by William Ollie, I didn't think I'd finish it so fast. I did just find The Willows by Algernon Blackwood (also recommended on this board), so I'll be reading that one soon. As soon as a certain author here has the book released for my kindle, I'll be reading that one. Even if I don't finish it by Halloween, what's not to love about vampires? |

I don't tend to go for particular Hallowe'en themes during October, but I'm currently on a Stephen King binge, and I'm going watch some Hammer Horror. (I was at Long Beach Comic Con on Saturday - talking to someone about preferences and vampires and they asked me what got me started. I mentioned Hammer Horror films, and drew a blank. I keep forgetting it's basically a British thing. When I mentioned Christopher Lee, things started to ring a bell. It's like when I tell people my name is Janet, and they say "Janet Brady!". I haven't a bloody clue what they're on about.) It's all good. ![]() |

Eulogy of The Straw-Witch by Tim Curran. (Zombie Pulp) There's something about this title that scares the shit out of me. Like if Satan had a nightmare on Halloween, it would be called Eulogy of The Straw-Witch. |

I'm cruising through The Thief of Always by Clive Barker, which I suppose isn't technically a Halloween novel, but it does contain Halloween scenes in it, so I figure that's close enough. ![]() |
