I knew it! Recently, I noticed that this one grotesquely untalented creep had gotten like a hundred five-star ratings on Amazon. (No names but some of you have already guessed.) All right, so already this stinks, but I couldn't let it alone. I clicked on a bunch of the reviewers to see what other books they'd rated. Guess what? There weren't any. But all of them had reviewed the same oven mitt. You can't make this stuff up. These were all one-word or one-sentence (fragment) reviews though, you know, stuff like "Awesome!" and "His best book yet!" sort of thing. I've heard they cost a buck. Apparently, for five dollars you can get several paragraphs. |

Been following this...I hate when people scam the system. Even a verified amazon purchase means nothing anymore. |

Oh, scamming the system doesn't bother me. I'm all for the struggling artist who finds a clever way to promote himself/herself. But why does it always seem to be the worst creeps who do this particular stuff? Never anyone with actual talent, always the people one remembers solely because of their racist and homophobic and sexist rants. Ugh. |

I've just been reading about how people are also paying to have negative reviews posted about books by their "enemies." You know what I miss? Concepts like professionalism. And standards. And... |
