After both Emma and Ethan got sick a week ago, they apparently passed it on to daddy. Four the past 4-5 days, I gone through headaches, fever, vomiting, broken-glass-in-your-throat syndrome, etc. The one good thing, I suppose, is that I've done a lot of sitting on the couch, either reading or watching movies. Thanks to C. Dennis Moore and David Bain's "Double-D Review Spot," I rented Tucker & Dale vs. Evil. Oh my goodness, how had I never seen this before! I had a severe case of the giggles the entire time and was thoroughly entertained. It takes the "redneck hillbilly killers in the woods" sub-genre and completely flips it on its head. Highly recommended. ![]() I also rented Watchmen, a movie I meant to see when it came out, and completely forgot about. Maybe now I know why. I watched a little over half of it last night, then just turned it off and went to bed. It plods along, the storyline barely moving, and I just couldn't take it anymore. I'll admit I've never read the supposedly brilliant graphic novel, and I'm not sure that would help or hurt my view of the film. Anyway, I have no desire to finish the DVD. Oh well, the movies were 2 for $1, and Tucker & Dale vs. Evil was more than worth that price! |

I thought Watchmen was just o.k. Didn't like seeing that guys junk through out the movie though. Haven't watched Tucker yet, I will when it comes on one of the cable channels. |

Tucker & Dale is one of my all-time favorite horror comedies. Brilliant! |

Tucker and Dale is awesome, Watchmen not so. |

The sex scene in Watchmen is so unintentionally hilarious. I can't believe the director let it slip through. |

I actually like Watchmen. I have the blu ray where the animated stuff is incorporated into the movie. But that sex scene...wow. |

It's a few years since I saw Watchmen, but I remember enjoying it. I saw it right after I'd read the graphic novel, and I thought the opening sequence in the film (which reflected earlier scenes in the book) was worth the admission alone. Beautifully sequenced. Wasn't that sex scene supposed to be awkward? I'm pondering slamming the dvd on the player this weekend and revisiting. Right now I can't remember much other than a giant blue man with no clothes on, and Matthew Goode (whooo!) as Ozymandias. (The things ya remember!) Gotta get that bloody story for the writing exercise finished first, tho'. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
