I will be brining some rare books to Killercon to give away to everyone who sees fit to support both Chris Marrs's EVERYTHING COMES BACK TO ALICE and my collection DANCE OF THE BLUE LADY. If you buy both bring them to the mass signing--give aways then. Or if you want a better choice, buy before the reading or run me down earlier Friday or Saturday (I'll have some left for Sunday, too). The TPBs of our books are relatively inexpensive. So, should be fun and worth your investment. If you can't come and would really like signed copies of those books, plus a bonus book, I'll mail them free in the States. E-mail me at [email protected]. |

Email sent. Now I will have signed and unsigned copies of both books. Wonder which will come first? |

My reading at Killercon is 4:30 Friday afternoon. Come and introduce yourself. In fact, Introduce yourself anytime at the convention--you don't have to buy a book to say hello. I'm easy to talk to, I think. Look forward to seeing *you.* Gene |

Hi all, I've only just found out about KillerCon and was wondering if Gene or anyone else would be so kind as to give me some advice on it. By sheer coincidence, I'll be in Vegas from the 19th to the 22nd on the last leg of my first trip to the US, so I was thinking of skipping the Grand Canyon and attending KC instead on Friday & Saturday if tickets are still available. I'm an aspiring horror writer from Australia, so in one sense it's a great opportunity to meet some of the writers and editors that I've long admired from afar, but I also want to be realistic about what I should expect to get out of it. I've had a couple of short stories published, so I'm more than a fan but a long way from a pro. I don't have a complete manuscript to present at a pitch session for example, although I do have several partials which are serious efforts that will become full length novels at some point. I've never been to a Con before and have no idea what to expect or in what capacity I should present myself. I won't know anyone in attendance either, which is pretty daunting. Any advice on all this would be much appreciated. Thanks, James. |

James: I think Killercon is a good one to start on. It's small enough that you will be able to mingle with any of the writer guests. You'll have time to network with other writers/editors. The dealers's room is small and should afford ample opportunity to talk to the dealers, several of them publishers. Come to my reading at 4:30 on Friday afternoon, identify yourself beforehand, and at the end I'll introduce you (time permitting you can tell folks what you are about). After the reading, I'll take you into the dealer's room and introduce you to one of the well-established small press publishers here, Roy Robbins of Bad Moon Books, and his right hand gal, Liz. You'll have both a good time, and advance your writing efforts. Gene |

The free books I'm bringing (16 or so) to Killercon include mostly out of print, rare stuff, including some Prime Books stuff, and two TPB copies of NEW DARK VOICES, and two s/l HB copies of DEATHFLASH. Be first to buy both my collection and Chris Marrs novella--inexpensive TPBs, and get to go through the box of free books (under Bad Moon Books table in Dealers' Room). |
