you think about them from time to time? (question stolen from Reddit) Here is mine. In my early twenties I went to a laundry mat alone late in the evening. I had placed my laundry in the washer and started it when a man walked in. He gave off total and complete creep vibes. This guy proceeded to start to sing to me and try to chat to me. I did my best to ignore him but I couldn’t stop from getting more and more frightened. He kept creeping closer while beginning to make inappropriate type remarks. Since we were alone in there I had no idea what to do. My laundry was still swirling in the washer. I almost felt trapped. By the time the guy was leaning on the washer two down from mine I was in almost full blown panic mode. Flight mode. I remember looking out the big plate glass window and meeting eyes for just a moment with this random man driving by in the parking lot. That stranger pulled his car into the parking spot in front of the laundry mat and walked in as bold as you please. He walked right up to me and said “HEY! Fancy seeing you here. How the heck are you?” I responded with “So nice to see you again!!” At which point we just started chatting like long lost friends who just happened to run into each other randomly. The creepy guy watched us for a few minutes and then left the laundry mat. The stranger chatted with me for about 5 more minutes to make sure the creepy man wasn’t lurking around somewhere to come back and then said “have a nice night!” and got in his car and left. I never knew his name. All I know is I will never forget that stranger and what he did for a frightened woman alone. I have no idea how he even knew to come in like that. It is one of my life’s biggest mysteries. |

I once helped a young lady out. She was being harassed by some homeless guys. She said she was waiting for some friends and I walked up and pretended to be one of them. Took her for coffee while we waited on her friends. I even got her number.  Suck part was that I was on leave and had to go back to the ship the next day and we left for our second deployment a week later. Never got a chance to call her.
