Shudder. As someone who worked for years in marketing/communications, I can tell you I see this sort of thing all the time. It's because so much of this is done "in-house" these days. No one wants to pay a professional. Everyone thinks that because they have a computer and a tutorial on how to use a graphics program, that they can do it themselves. (Or just assign some secretary to do it.) Sadly, one also needs talent, intelligence, creativity, a clue ... I doubt if many of the execs involved even realize how hilariously awful these are. (Is there a parallel to the literary world here?) |
