Put together Starship Troopers and Independence Day, and Pacific Rim will be somewhere close. It's a typical three act, heroes against the odds, with yet more typical character development. It's also - MONSTERS WITH BIG FEET AND HUGE MOUTHS AND ELBOW ROCKETS AND MAD SCIENTISTS AND THREE FUCKING ARMED GIANT ROBOTS AND ROARRRRRRR AND LOUD MUSIC AND WISE-CRACKING AUSTRALIANS AND IDRIS ELBA!!!! Yeah, I'm giving it seven.

I give it 8/10. Best movie I've seen all summer. Even better than Iron Man 3. This was a love letter from a fan boy to the fans. I think it's going to break bigger than the "experts" think. If I had the money, I'd go see it again. |

The ONLY thing I didn't like about it was the SPOILER!!! aliens' motives. They couldn't come up with anything more original than "they go from world to world, using up all the natural resources, then moving on to the next one"? Other than that, it was pretty much perfect. |
